I have no intention of hindering you. If you want to go back thats your perfect right. I am curious though if you have spent any of your time away actually researching the WT religion. I've done my homework, and I AINT goin back! Can you truly say you've done yours?

R U disfellowshipped 2
by DFshipped inhi people.
i am a df'd person hoping to return to the fold.
i am not critical of the decision to df me nor of the loving organization i believe to be in the palm of jesus hand.. i would find it most encouraging to hear from others who feel the same and would like to "hold hands" on the way back.. this board is hailed as a supportive respectful place so if you do not fit this description may i ask you to move on and not hinder the participants here in following their god given right to pursue their goal.

Whatever Happened to Backbone?
by Roamingfeline inhi all.. just having my gripe for the day.. heh heh.
once upon a time, people had something called moral fibre.
they had ideals which they believed in.

Hi Roamingfeline,
I also believe might be operating under some false assumptions. Lack of backbone, apathy, corruption....these have always existed. It is very common for people to fantasize that there was a time in recent history when society was upright and had strong values. I think its more a case of selective memory. For many, they hold up the decade of the fifties as a pinnacle of a virtuous generation. All this is as delusionary as believing that "Father Knows Best" and "Leave It To Beaver" were accurate representations of real life.
Now, there is simply more access to information and less desire to 'whitewash' over the less desirable traits. Take the Clinton thing for example. The first presidential adulterer? yea right! JF Kennedy is well known to have done his fair share of carousing, yet he is held up as an exemplary president and gets his head printed on money. ...Selective memory.
Good and bad have always existed together. Humans are a study of contrast even within themselves. Society evolves...and has setbacks. This nation was founded by bigoted slave-owners, many of whom belonged to the Order Of Masons. Yet here we are taking a day off to celebrate George Washingtons birthday. Jefferson and Lincoln were no enlightened pillars of virtue either. But society keeps on evolving, and despite its flaws and growing pains, I think we live in a pretty good time in history.
Even the Bible acknowledges the trait of people to over-romantisize the past:
*** Rbi8 Ecclesiastes 7:10 ***
10 Do not say: "Why has it happened that the former days proved to be better than these?" for it is not due to wisdom that you have asked about this. -

Russia calls for banning JWs

This is really a difficult thing here. On one hand, I have no desire to see the spread of JW indoctrination. But on the other, I loath religious persecution. Surely there has to be a better way of handling semi-cultic religious groups than bans? Do they not realise that banning simply reinforces the groups indoctrinations?
Also, I've been loosely following the Russia case, and am appalled at just how bungled the prosecution is. They clearly are not informed enough about JWs. They seem to be going after them for all the wrong reasons, with all the wrong arguments. Any one of us could make a much more lucid...and fair-minded...case than those Russian prosecutors could.

Hehehe, you noticed, Waiting?
Yea i must admit that my favorite singers are female. I just love the female voice. My first album i ever bought was Stevie Nicks :Wild Heart. And man, Fleetwood Mac is one of the greatest bands ever, IMO!
Tusk was awesome...but then, so were any of their albums! I wanna get "The Chain" DVD of their live concert.
I guess my appreciation for female artists has also led me into celtic music where they reign supreme as queens! :-)
Then there are times i can get by on nothing but Tori Amos or Sarah MacLachlan! True magic! And lets not forget Alanis Morrisette or Sade or Heart or Sinead Lohan or the Pretenders or the Sundays....oh it could go on and on....
I only regret that I never made it to a Lilith Fair concert :(

Next Star Trek series
by eyes_opened inhas anyone heard anything about the next series?
hope it's not too far into the future!
i need my trek man!!!!

I've loved all the Star Trek series! Admittidly, there were some rather cheezy episodes in the original, though.
Next Generation really took off after a bumpy 1st season. I think the DS9 and Voy learned so much from their predecesors that they displayed great quality right from the start without much need for a breakin period. I really dont understand a lot of the criticisms i hear of DS9 and Voyager, I think they are fabulous shows in their own right.
Through the grapevine....I heard that the next Star Trek series will NOT carry the words "Star Trek" in the title! I am anxious to see what they have in store for us. Its gonna be hard going a year without Star Trek on TV!
