Those strict rules should have been implemented in my congregation. Brothers were way too touchy feely with sisters. Maybe it was because it was a Spanish congregation. Latin people are like that. But I know that all too often I felt uncomfortable with the way I was touched.

How "Strict" was the mentality in your congregation?
by JH inlike i said earlier on another thread, in the late 80's in my congregation, a brother could not shake the hand of a sister entering the hall.
no touching !!!.
i also recall going out in the field service and it was cold, like -20c, and i went to a ms house just to say hi, and i saw his wife waiting in front of her house for a lift to go out in the field service.

MY DAD MIGHT DIE DUE TO THE 'NO BLOOD' DOCTRINE
by Mary ini don't have much time to post as i'm headed back to the hospital, but my father collapsed this morning and had to be rushed to the hospital.
in a nutshell: he needs a blood transfusion as his hemoglobin is dropping (bleeding internally), but thanks to this fucking cult, that's not an option...........he'll accept the fractions but those bastards from the blood liaison committee have already shown up to ensure he doesn't cave............... for those of you who still believe, i'm asking you to say a prayer for my dad........and if anyone from crooklyn is reading this: you better hope my father doesn't die due to your fucked up rules, .

Mary
You are in my thoughts. I wish all the best for your father. I agree, the WTS would not want you on their ass, for any reason
Amazing conversation you had with your mom there. This could be the straw that breaks the camel's back you know.

Catholics
by BlackSwan of Memphis inso can someone please enlighten me why when people come out with their catholicism others find it necessary to remind them of their pope worshipping, mary praying traditions (sic)?.

Several years ago I also went to RCIA. I found the process very enlightening, the Catholic traditions and culture are very nice and I often pray the rosary. But I stopped short of getting baptized. What for? I reasoned. This is strictly between me and God, I don't have to show the church anything. Today I still on occasion attend mass and look for Catholic charities to volunteer my time and donate goods. The church is not at all perfect, far from it, but I find the atmosphere welcoming and comforting, and that alone puts to rest the initial fear I had of going into a building where allegedly demons would attack me!
I loved visiting the old cathedral in Cuzco this year. Would you believe that mass is held in Quechua? I was amazed by that.
I'm going to church right now. I need to whiff some candles.

I switch brands around a lot as far as powder/foundation, to this day I cant find a good match for my skin tone or skin type, regardless if I shop at Clinique or at CVS. I have a combination oily/dry acne prone skin so it makes it hard, and then even when I find the right formula, I could never quite find the right shade for my tone I'm sure our ethnic ladies here can relate to this. Major cosmetic manufacturers seem to always overlook us "coloured" gals.
Just a couple of weeks ago I purchased Maybelline pure makeup which is more like a tinted moisturizer, in caramel. So far its the only formula and shade that has matched my color and type to near perfection. Hopefully they won't discontinue the line!
Two items that I have purchased over and over again throughout the years and never go without: great lash mascara and Revlon super lustrous lipstick in raisin rage.

Buy guns and support the NRA. ;-)
For shame! But I agree, somewhat. I never thought I would. The gov't can't be trusted. Should'nt be trusted, given our history.

From what I understand a rosary is not to be worn as a necklace because, well it's not a necklace. I never heard of bad things happening if it is worn as a necklace. I've seen many people do it. Adults say such things to children to discourage questioning and keep them in check (sound familiar? ).

Obves correct! Yearbook 75 says BABIES who take blood won't live forever!!!
by Witness 007 inyearbook 75 p.223-224 witness couple and their 6 day old cheryl, who needed blood.
"darell and rhoda correctly viewed blood transfusion as a violation of god's law, and thus oposed it.
they were concerned about the babies welfare, for everlasting life is only the prospect of those adhering to god's laws.

Obves your analogies are just plain wrong. Furthermore, the WT stance on the issue is quite clear. Did you read the excerpt posted above from the yearbook? And furthermore still, the WT policy on blood is shifty to even begin messing with. It has changed so many times I'm certain noone currently knows what the policy actually is. That's a damn shame coming from Gods supposed faithful and discrete slave.

I thought it was great. Very clever on Sacha's part to make a film like this. I've been a fan of Da Ali G show for years and I love his approach.
My favourite scene was the one in the camper with the 3 drunk Southern boys. Guess the alcohol was like a truth serum for them.
The naked wrestling was nuts!
