we've posted many comments on their response on various threads, such as on qwerty's topic "wt-faq on shunning--" just yesterday.. this morning i went to that site to copy it, and it seems to be gone....unless i'm not awake yet.. is it gone or did i somehow miss it?.
also....i did a 'search' on their official site, on the word "shunning" ... result was "no results" so i changed it to "disfellowshipping" and the article on "child custody" came back as the only reference.

No trouble at all. I only figured you both must be going to the wrong site because I've done it myself more than once! After that I've either had another coffe like JAVA said, or had another beer, depending on what time it is. hey... We can always blame it on a cat being on the loose and distracting us.

I just tried again and it's still there. are you 2 going to the officail site of the WBTS? if so, it's not on that site. it's on www.jw-media.com try that.

Do you shun former members?
Those who simply cease to be involved in the faith are not shunned. In compliance with the Scriptures, however, members can be expelled for serious unchristian conduct, such as stealing, drunkenness, or adultery, if they do not repent and cease such actions. Disfellowshipping does not sever family ties. Disfellowshipped members may continue to attend religious services, and if they wish, they may receive pastoral visits. They are always welcome to return to the faith.—1 Corinthians 5:11-13.

i mentioned 1975 to my still devout but not so fundamental jw mum.

I only recall hearing lots of talk about 1975 being armageddon time. I never shared in spreading that prediction because I was scared to death at the time. I remember hearing all the things HadEnough heard. I was only 14 at the time. All I constantly thought about was that I was going to die with all the worldy people, and how much it would hurt my parents. With constant talks about having "impure" thoughts, and falling into "secret sin" being very wicked, greedy, grosss, unatural etc....I figured I was a gonner for sure when the big A arrived. Funny how ya can't stop some "sins" even with the threat of death hanging over you! the WBTS could have at least referred to them as NATURAL sins, if they felt the need to catagorize them as sins. Anyhoo, I'm getting way off topic again. As far has anyone taking responsibilty for the prediction, it should be the WBTS! If you notice in the quotes I provided for ApostleAK, the society worked up the rand and file from at least 1966, to 1974. So that was for at least 8 years. This quote from the 1974 watchtower is my favorite...
"And now, as the critical year of 1975 enters, it may well be asked: Has the Most High God of prophecy made a name for himself? The answer is self-evident, Yes! By whom? Not by Christendom or by Jewry, but by Jehovah's Christian witnesses!"

So... right after blaming the rank and file..... suddenly the society isn't the FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE at all! They are now only mere PERSONS HAVING TO DO WITH the publications. And what they published wasn't SPRITUAL FOOD any longer either. It was now INFORMATION THAT CONTRIBUTED TO THE BUILDUP OF HOPES centered around that date! I wish they would have kept referring to themselves as "persons having to do with the publications" now, considering that's all they are. God forbid they ever be honest. And if they would have stopped contributing to the buildup of false hopes back then in 1980, they wouldn't be a billion dollar business today. One thing I can say about the society is that they aren't stupid. My blood is starting to boil again. ... gee..you have a knack for bringing up good subjects! And it's interesting to read all the replys on what they were feeling back then as 1975 neared. We were all at different stages in out lives back then. Kids, teens, and adults. So we all faced the approaching 1975 with different thoughts and fears.

Obviously, if I think this is a good attitude to have, then I'm going to have to think it is a good attitude for my partners to have, no?
ok...I undersand you now. If you ever reach a point where you are able to live life with that total freedom, and find others who share your same attitude, keep us posted on how it works, and let us know if your attitude or any of your partners' cahnge at all. I'm curious if that could ever work with all parties involved.

Sometimes I start my morning with a tall vanilla latte. Sometimes I have orange juice and a bagel with cream cheese. Sometimes it's eggs over medium with picante sauce, bacon and hash browns. Your view of "commiting" your love, attention love and sex activities to more than one person would probably work smoothly, if humans were scrambled eggs or bagels. I've often thought as you do, now that my youngest child will be an adult soon. But if you think hard about it, you might end up falling for someone and want them to be with only you. How would you feel if you called her up to spend time with her, and she compared you to eggs and bagels and said there is no reason to be with just you and then said that she is spending time with Dick ( but not yours) for the rest of the week? I think life would be a lot more difficult living like that. I say it's best to be alone. no hassles and no strings. self-indulgence could always fill the physical void, and it hurts nobody.
