i've been watching the new dvd and it is a bull fest about russell.

i haven't even gotten half way and they already excluded one very important bit of information.

you'll recall that russell "lost" his faith and "turning away from church creeds and searching for truth, russell examined some leading oriental religions, only to find these unsatisfying".

Disfellowshipping - But You KNEW About It Before You Were Baptized!

started a new topic b/c i didn't want to threadjack another ongoing pointless debate.

:) (isn't it interesting how the apologists all come out around dc time?).

i have seen that statement made over and over again by jws about disfellowshipping.

I will give you one example of what is wrong with others who make that statement.

Supposing the WTS INC/GB decided that the trinity is now going to be a teaching. How many JWs would object? Did they ALL know that when they got baptised that they have to accept as truth and "adjust their thinking" so as to agree with EVERY TEACHING IN ANY GIVEN YEAR that the GB teaches or else have this scripture applied to THEM?

2 John1010 If anyone comes to YOU and does not bring this teaching, never receive him into YOUR homes or say a greeting to him.

The answer is NO.

But the FACT is that any JW would HAVE to accept ANY teaching from the GB.

When a JW gets baptized, they don't realize that they may have gotten baptized because they believed AT THE TIME, that the teachings of the GB were "the truth". Along with that, they belived that truth does not change.

JWs DO NOT KNOW that they HAVE to believe every teaching form the GB is the truth NO MATTER WHAT THE TEACHING IS AT ANY GIVEN TIME, when they get baptized.

And the WTS INC, should make that CRYSTAL CLEAR to it's potential adherents/followers BEFORE THEY GET BAPTIZED IN ASSOCATION WITH IT"S ORGANIZATION.

Of course, they wouldn't do such a thing. Because then the organization would have NO CONTROL over it members.

And members = $$$$$$$$$$$

Why do I suddenly get stupid when the elders talk to me

does anyone else have the same problem.

when i'm alone, i am constantly thinking about all the clever things i'm going to say if visited by the elders, but when i actually get confronted, these things never come to mind, and i keep spitting out drivel like some dumb idiot.

after they leave, i rethink the conversation, and i'm furious over all the oppotunities i've missed to put them in their place.......damn it!!!!!

It's the intimidation mixed probably with ( my guess only) ,a little bit of shyness.

My suggestion is take a few days or more ( whatever time you need) and respond to what you remember them saying in a letter. The next time they visit, tell them you are VERY busy but took the time to write them though, with your thoughts on what they said.

I thank you also, Randy, for sharing with us.

I wish this could be made into a movie, your biography, in helping others. Not only becuase it would help probably THOUSANDS, but also in memory of Ray Franz, Dansk, and may others.

At least I pray that you'll publish a book someday!

I'm SO looking foreward to reading part 2, as others here are.

And I'm sure that lurkers who are still "in" are too.

Ray Franz has had a stroke

there is another thread that notes a claim on wiki that said that ray has died.. he had a stroke yesterday, and is in the hospital.

he is still alive.

I respect Cynthia's wishes and I still continue my deepest heartfelt prayers for her personally.

I do understand that she will be even more overwhelmed than she already is,by phone calls.

hello all, i came across this forum after trying to find an old childhood friend of mine but had no luck.

i have lived in rhode island my whole life and i'm not a jehovah's witness myself but he is/was years ago.

i remember being about 11 years old and wondering why he couldn't come over my house and didn't understand it then!

The Day After DC 2010

facebook comments of my wife and friends are making me sick ... literally.. "great reminders" "loved it" "just what we needed" "love the way jehovah works" "very encouraging" "get better every year" "best convention ever" "what a boost".

First of all, let me give this hug, seeing as how it not during a prayer

You have to stop attending conventions and meetings because now that you know the WT is nothing but hogwash and a cult and that it's followers MUST believe that the WT is not hogwash or a cult, but truth.

I know others who tried to keep quiet and their own physical and mental condition sunk lower and lower. The ONLY time they stated to get better is when they stopped attending meetings and WT conventions.

I don't know if your wife knows how you feel, as I haven't read your background yet. If you don't think your wife can handle the truth about HOW the WT comes up with and passes changes it's teachings or anything else you know about the WT, just tell her you are taking a break from all meetings to have time to think. Don't tell her any negative things yet, and that'll give you time to plan on a way that'll make her think and open her eyes.

Whatever you decide, I would think about your own well-being first. Because you cannot keep on the way you are. It is not good for your health and I mean that!

I wish you the best and stay strong!

In time, maybe you can ask on your wife's facebook page or your own, that JWs explain in their own words what the "gereration" is and then list all the evidence that backs their explanation. Who knows what answers you'll get!
