  hi folks,.

  i'm doing some interesting research on the procedure of reinstatement back into the org.. if anyone here can relate how many months/years passed by from the time you got df'd, till the time you got reinstated, it would be very helpful.

  also include how often elders met with you, if you attended meetings regularly during the time you were df'd, and if you approached the elders for reinstatement(and how many times you approached them), or they approached you.

  I haven't read the "Magazine Conscious?" post but I'll look for it now.

  That would make you popular with your neighbors and coworkers, wouldn't it?

  funny.

  If they would make the covers on the mags better, it might. They could put pictures of sexy men or women on them and they'd make alot more money. But then again, that would make JWs popular with neighbors and co-workers and then they wouldn't be able to claim that they are persecuted anymore! So that explains the dorky mag covers anyway.

  I have been DF'd for 25 years and have never been approached by any elder about returning. I hope they think I dropped off the face of the earth!

  Guess your elders didn't have taking care of the flock on their minds for 25 years!

  because I always felt bad about myself and could never measure up to the Witness I thought I had to be

  I don't know of any JWs who don't feel like they can measure up to the rules of the "society" and make it the new world. It's so very sad that they truly believe that the rules enforced upon them by the wbts, are all God's rules. And that's what makes them constantly feel bad about themselves and unworthy of love. That's a very heavy burden for the society to make it's followers carry.

  I hope all is well with you now and that you aren't still carrying a heavy burden in your heart or soul.

  when you were reinstated after being df'd for 6 months back in 1989, did you have to approach the elders in person (or letter) to be resinstated of did they approach you to ask how you how were doing and if you wanted to be back in?

  I agree that it's wrong to put a year time limit on how long it will take to be forgiven publicly/reinstated! I can say for sure that there is no scriptual backing for that practice. it must be a wbts backing practice. why am I not surprised?

  wow! Thank you for the info. Now I'm curious. Did the elder approach you at your home? Or did he run into you somewhere? Was it a sheparding call to take care of the flock?

It would be helpful to state if you're male or female too, unless you feel that you don't want that known here. There is no need to state what sin was committed or supposedly committed.

  I hope your feeling better today. I've enjoyed reading this thread too, so I thank you for it.

  The 9/11 tradegy was a terrible terrible terrible and very sad thing to watch. My heart goes out to all the victims.

  When terrible things like that happen, it makes us realize that we never know how long we'll be here for. All the victims never realized that that day would be their last day to live. I don't mean to say anything that will get everyone down, but that is so true. So I have made a vow to make some changes for the better in my life, along with making a hard decision. Because I never know if I'll be here much longer or not.

  I consider my blessings to be that I got out of the JW cult before I had children and raised them in it. And that I had to wonderful kids ( ok..fine...so they weren't ALWAYS wonderful ) who turned out to be 2 wonderful adults.

  I most certainly was blessed in these ways.

  Dear dear Billygoat,

  I think your thoughts reflect the thoughts of so many of us here. I was going to reply and then read Pierced Angel's and Jan's replys too. dammit, now i have a lump in my fingers! I will try to reply tomorrow if it's gone by then.

  I think we all learned more than one lesson in life by the terror and heatbreaking tragedy of the lives lost in the 9/11 attack.
