Gravedancer: Thanks for your link. I don't know a whole lot about annuities other than that we sell them at work. They are supposed to be great if you have money to invest. I am pretty sure what we sell are not variable annuities, the subject of concern in your link. I'll try to find out some more information and post it here.

You may want to consider an annuity. They go for about 8% to 10% interest.
a) Guaranteed safe principal and interest
b) Pays no taxes
c) Avoids probate or estate-advantaged
d) Flexible I can get money when I need it if an emergency
e) High interest/high return (remember equity linked)
f) Protection against interest fluctuations
g) No upfront fees
h) Easy to purchase
i) Retirement protection
Let me know if you want more information.

I voted for Jim V and AJ - the two "losers" Simon spent so much time villifying. It was somewhat gratifying that they advanced. I think they were very sincere, even though they did not put on their best performance.
WEEK 1
Whoo - solid performance by Tamyra. Loved the frim fram sauce song by Ryan. Adriel surely got the girl vote.
WEEK 2
Alexis was good. Liked Angela too. Gil had a great voice. Alex and Kelli were awful. Jazmin sang from her heart. Justin - well he does seem a little full of himself, but you can't deny he has a great voice.
WEEK 3
I was blown away by EJay - the one who filled in for the disqualified guy last night. I couldn't believe the range on the way he sang that one word "SAID". I did like Christina a lot as well. Nikki was pretty cool too. Sorry Al, I didn't care so much for Mark. What was up with that thing around his neck and those white gloves? I think it was homage to Michael Jackson who he imitated in the earlier qualifying rounds.
Okay, I've totally embarassed myself.

Holiday Stamps
by Southland ini picked up some new stamps today (for those outside the us, the postage just went up from 34 cents to 37 cents per stamp).
i noticed the provisional stamps were of the us flag.
it made me remember the old days where my mother would scrutinize the stamps for sale at the post office to make sure she did not buy any that were objectional, especially around the holidays, i.e.

Any one else have memories like these?

by Cygnus injust so i don't miss anybody who is interested.... my results from the ekg and the echogram showed a severe leak in a heart valve.
i am going for an angiogram on the 15th but the cardiologist says the liklihood is great that i will need open heart surgery.
rare for a 30 year old but if necessary, it is necessary.. no word yet on the results of the blood work for liver enzymes and hepatitis.

lofromchicago,
You may want to consider Open Adoption ... the baby goes to a loving family who really would provide an ideal family situation ... and the biological parents still stay in the picture with previously negotiated frequency of visits, etc.

Mulan could use some cyber hugs...

my mom (mulan) is having trouble with my grandma again.

(((Mulan)))
I remember when I first started lurking here, trying to decipher the odd cast of characters, Mulan was one of those that always stood out as a voice of calm and reason. I remember thinking, wow, what a wonderful maternal influence.
I feel for your situation. My grandmother had dementia toward the end and what a sad way for her to exit this world where she did not recognize anyone around her and thought everyone was out to get her.
I hope tomorrow is a better day and that she regains some of her senses.

I've been touched by your past postings about your Mom, and I'm sorry to hear things have taken a difficult turn for the worse.
I hope your Mom does a 180.

$1,000,000.......... jw child abuse victims
by crawdad2 ini don't like $450,000 us dollars................... i think one million, or more, us dollars is more like it,... for damages.
.......to a jw child molestation victim that has all the names and times.......and stuff about how the elders told you that you don't have 2 witnesses...........did they make you read 1 tim 5:19 to them,... out loud?
1 tim 5:19 do not admit an accusation against an older man.....except only on the evidence of 2 or 3 "witnesses".......20.

Crawdad2,
I think your enthusiasm is commendable. But to me, you are coming across a little fanatical. It has been said before that every situation is unique and there are a lot of factors that go into determining an injury award. It's not possible to come up ahead of time with $450,000 or $1 million as appropriate figures. This is something best left to legal counsel.
(Hoping I don't get Crawdad2-flamed.)
