cheney's job at risk .
by david wastell.
concern is growing among white house officials that dick cheney, george w bush's most trusted adviser, has become a liability in efforts to distance the administration from the corporate scandals panicking the stock market.. as the dow jones index slumped to its lowest level since october 1998, falling almost five per cent on friday alone, officials privately admitted that investigations into the american vice-president's past business dealings have turned him into a political problem.. the securities and exchange commission, america's financial watchdog, is investigating mr cheney's previous role running the beleaguered halliburton oilfield services company.. last week's stock market plunges gave rise to unprecedented speculation among republicans that mr cheney, seen until recently as the steadying hand on the tiller, may have to be sacrificed as mr bush's running mate for the 2004 election.. a republican congressional official said:"any of those would have at least one big advantage over cheney.
A question for Francois -> Do you own property in Florida that allows you to register your vehicles there? Are you in Florida more than 50% of the time so you can have your license be from that state and your vehicles registered there? If not, aren't you guilty of "sidestepping" those laws/rules that you don't agree with? If so, isn't this hypocritical, much akin to those politicians you rant and rave about?
It's interesting to note that on a survey on MSNBC that was open earlier today, over 70% (100000+ votes) of the users felt that Cheney *AND BUSH* both needed to come clean about their corporate past. I found this interesting especially because MSNBC surveys tend to be pro Bush, pro Republican. Perhaps because of the larger number of well-educated Republicans using computers? I don't know ...
.
just a reminder for everyone .... panorama should be starting in 15 minutes on bbc1.

I only caught the end ... I'll have to wait until they post the entire broadcast. Those that saw the entire thing, what did you think?

Two questions:
1) Regarding "Printed in Britain" at the end - I know that United Kingdom is all of the territories, but can someone (again) explain the difference between England and Britain? I thought it was Great Britain?
2) Does the London office have their own approval process for literature, or would this have had to been "blessed" by the Brooklyn headquarters?
of the recent speech given by president bush and corporate responsibility, from the americans in here, how do you see this policy unfolding in the usa?
do you think this is a wise move for your president to be taking, or can you see it opening wide, a flood gate, can of worms so to speak?
what is the general consensus, word on the street about this issue?
Bush is a royal hypocrite. He himself has done all of the things he is now criticizing, including taking loans from his own company.

So sorry to hear about your pet .... pets are really wonderful to have .... I hope you find it possible to get another pet and continue on the mutual love ....
my sister just called me at work to let me know that her husband (until recently, unsympathetic to her doubts) is thoroughly confused and pissed off by the new 'worship' book!.
he has been comparing it with the 'united' book, has noted the obvious differences (3 missing chapters), and has begun examining it word for word...now he is raving looney about it.. to top it off, they were at bethel within the last few days, somehow ended up in brother larson's personal office, and were astonished to find a model spanish galleon replete with huge crosses, and a huge portrait of good ol' max towering over the watchtower itself.
she said her husband thought it looked like a propaganda poster for 'big brother'..... finally!
What are the titles of the three missing chapters? (Apologies if this was answered elsewhere already.)
the secret private jw message board, that is .
so, how do they determine this, exactly?
(whether or not someone is in "good standing".

Gravedancer: Thanks for your link. I don't know a whole lot about annuities other than that we sell them at work. They are supposed to be great if you have money to invest. I am pretty sure what we sell are not variable annuities, the subject of concern in your link. I'll try to find out some more information and post it here.
