A really good book about Watchtower history
by Gary1914 ini recently discovered a great book which i would like to recommend.
it is called a people for his name and it was written by a jehovah's witness named timothy white.
i love this book and it helps one to see the origins of many things taught by the witnessing such as disfellowshipping and the blood doctrine.

How far would (do) you go for your principals?
by SpiceItUp inwould you stand up and uphold your principals no matter what the cost or outcome?
would you pick and choose your battles deciding which really are the most important (to you) and letting some of your principals get battered in the process?
right now i have 2 scenarios where my principals are at stake.

Well one is about money and the other is about being treated unfairly....
I am not going to say which one is which, but right now, with some heath concerns I have currently (pleurisy), among other stressful things that are happening in my life, I dont know what would be better..... Stand up for myself as I have learned to do or just drop it and accept that some people will treat you badly just because your honesty hurts (sorry this wont make too much sense but I dont want to divulge too much) -

Right now I have 2 scenarios where my principals are at stake. One I am definately going to fight and uphold, the other I am still contemplating whether its really "that" important to me even though I have been wronged.
Any thoughts? -

Love and Choices
by YoursChelbie indo we choose who we fall in love with?
for example: a man married for only a few months notices another married woman at work.
they get to talk and find that they have lots in common.

I think perhaps this man is in love with the idea of being "in love"
true/real love is much stronger that what this man seems to have with either woman. -

religious or secular?
by fader ini have never been a religious person, despite being raised as a witness and going through the motions.
now that i'm out, i'm not a religious person at all.
i don't believe in god, i think there is some sort of higher power, but i'm just not that concerned with learning anything about it.

The biggest LIE you believed as a JW...
by Waymores Ghost infor me it was the belief that all people who refuse to become jws are intrinsically bad.
if someone doesn't accept the "truth", naturally it's because "satan-the-devil" has hardened their hearts.
when you're a dub, you tend to ignore the ramifications of this.

I would have to say that I did buy into the shunning part (when I was little), only because my parents always said that it was showing "tough love". Now I know better and it makes me mad that I did shun others when I was little...even though I felt bad for doing it at that time.
