  Who is in or close to NY?

  i am thinking about visiting my sister in ny this fall.

  buffalo area.

  is there anybody who would be close by that i could hang with while she goes to her meetings?.

  even though i haven't associated myself with the jw's for several years, i have always had part of me that thought maybe it really was just me.

  its very hard to struggle with yourself and just not know.

  i don't really know alot of people (in my area) that are xjw's.

  A bit of advice please

  ok.... heres the scenario:.

  you make plans with a "friend" on a project that will benefit you both..including something that may help you out in the long run as well.. your "friend" screws you over in a completly different respect...but one that cannot be ignored.

  they show no remorse for the harm they have done either.. do you not proceed with the prearranged project on matters of principal because they may in turn screw you on that as well not to mention you really don't care to be around them at all.....or do you take your chance that they won't and keep your deal.. what would you pick.....matter of principal or contract?.

  Breaking the cycle

  isn't it funny how something unpleasant has to happen to you in order for growth and change.

  since i am still somewhat new to the board i will finally get out my ramblings (rants & raves is more like it) of my past.

  my mother was "raised as a jw" and my father became one when he was 19 (i think it was in order to marry my mom).

  this matter has been on my mind for a while and i just know that sparks are going to fly for some.. its not that i dont think that the bible has good moral/ethical values but its more on how much it is relied upon as nonfiction.

  personally, i think of it as a more revered version of "aesop's tales" or "the canterbury tales".

  a book written by the earliest known psychiatrists (ok so this is going out on a limb but you get the gist) to teach the general population how to behave.

  i think in a way the wt along with the elders are molesters themselves.

  think of the simularities.

  first...this is the definition, courtesy of webster, of molest - "to bother, annoy, or persecute: to accost sexually".

  What got me through the years!

  it was very hard growing up as a jw in my teen years.

  i used to put all my feelings and thoughts down with the intention that if they helped just one person then it was worth it.

  funny thing is, is that i helped myself to start working through many of the issues i would end up confronting (along with more to come in the future).
