"I Can't Help Falling in Love with You" is my favorite. It was the song we played at our wedding along with "Love Me Tender."

it is hard to believe that 25 years have passed since elvis' death.
most his songs are "dated" imho, however, his "style" truly lives on.

RT, from my experience, the truly kind and compassionate ones don't last. The regular types always seemed to find some way to get rid of them.

Coping Mechanisms of Sexual and Physical Abuse
by Victor_E in"as a child, i learned that strength was the denial of feeling.
now i see that feeling is the key to self-honesty.
within feeling is found the passion for change.

Thank you, Victor E.
I think I was also looking for some sort of validation, because when I read your response, I thought that I wasn't so strange after all and maybe I'm just normal.

Sandigger,
I believe the book you are referring to is called "Angels and Women" and it is available from Amazon or jjrizo here on this board. Here is a thread that talks about it.

I knew some elders who were the kindest, most caring, and sweetest person I ever knew. I feel that they are/were victims just like I was.
Then there were others on power trips who made life a living hell for the entire congregation.
Unfortunately I could never bring myself to confide in the good ones. If I couldn't trust my own mother, how could I ever trust an elder, even the kindest one?
It's really sad.

Keep following our stupid rules - God requires it
by dmouse inoctober 1st 2002 watchtower.
page 16 para 20. strong faith, in turn, fortifies us to obey jehovah, even when his requirements seem to go contrary to human reasoning.. .
para 22how important, therefore, that we have an obedient attitude toward that 'slave'!.

In thinking on this further, it seems to parallel what went on in the early 1920's after 1914 and the 1980's after 1975 as reported on in Ray Franz' Crisis of Conscience. Maybe they are trying to damage control after changing the definition of a "generation." Maybe this is a form of intimidation that they are using.

I asked:
Is there such a thing as trying to remember the incident so vividly that you are wanting to go back and relive the abuse, at least in your mind? Does this make any sense?
Victor E replied:
I don't know. I feel compelled to understand it further, to understand the relationship I still want to have with this person even though this relative is shunning me now. I have covered this with a psychiatrist several years ago, but lately I have been thinking a lot more about this incident and wondering if there was some memory of it that I missed. I feel that there is some sort of key there. Can there be some sort of obsession involved in trying to understand the abuse? Can there be a love-hate relationship with the incident and the person involved? Before I can answer this question I would need to know what is the intention behind regressing to the abuse?

Mulan,
You are such a horrible person for a very good reason. It is so that they can feel better about their own pathetic lives. You give their life meaning. I feel sorry for them.
Having met you in person, I must say that you cover up the horrible part of your personallity very well. I couldn't really tell how horrible you are. I just hope I can be just as horrible as you someday.
