  i just heard this on the news, has anyone else heard it?

  i can't find info about it on the web.

  i think they said 6 jws were kidnapped, 2 beheaded now.

  Muslim rebels kill two of six Jehovah's Witness hostages

  PATIKUL, Philippines (AP) -- Muslim rebels linked to al-Qaida beheaded at least two of the six Jehovah's Witnesses they kidnapped in the southern Philippines, authorities said Thursday.

  Brig. Gen. Romeo Tolentino, commander of the army on the southern island of Jolo, said authorities found the heads of the two male hostages in an open air market in Jolo town.

  The two men were abducted on Tuesday with four women as the group sold Avon cosmetics and visited homes around the town of Patikul in the south of the predominantly southern island of Jolo.

  Tolentino said a note was attached to the remains referring to "infidels" and spoke of a holy war, or "jihad."

  Its very sad.

  1000 leaving Bethel - Why?

  bill said something in his "disfellowshiped" post which i found very interesting.

  well, a change occurred at the end of april much like what happened in china.the conservatives used silentlambs as an excuse to squash the liberals and any chance of reform in the organization.why do you think they are asking for 1,000 to leave bethel?

  it is the liberals, they are being kicked out wholesale and by doing so the last chance for the organization to save itself.the battle is over, jaracz won.. i had heard about the 1000 people leaving bethel but it was spoken of as "downsizing".

  Thanks for your comments. Yes it is astonishing the lengths the leadership are now going to keep control. It is sounding more and more like 1984 all the time with the spy cameras etc - who of us as mr average joe witness could ever have imagined it?

  If they are using such measures to eliminate discontented factions, thereby breaking them up and moving them from the centre of power, then perhaps this shows that the leadership conceieves that there could be a revolt. It would after all, not be the first time.

  I had heard about the 1000 people leaving Bethel but it was spoken of as "downsizing". Now Bill indicates there is a more sinister reason behind this clearout. It almost sounds like what happened in the early eighties all over again.Would anyone else like to confirm or add to this?

  Connie Chung? What Happened?

  i'm in california and just tuned in to cnn @ 8:00 and there was 1/2 hour of connie chung about kidnapped kids, but nothing about bill bowen, the two girls, or the wts.

  anyone know what happened?
