Valis, that was awesome! Thank you for posting the pics. Lyin kindly offered me a ride for the weekend if I met them in Shreveport, but unfortunately I still won't be able to make it; I just found out that a very beloved uncle will be in town this weekend, and I can't miss seeing him. Keep having the world's best bad association; wish I could be there!

why dogma?
by SpiderMonkey ini think the title is self-explanatory for the most part, but to clarify: i'm not talking about jw dogma.
i mean, why do so many, even ex-jw, settle on dogma?
why use one "holy book" to define your spirituality?

What a jerk...
by joannadandy inok so it always bothered me what a jerk jacob was.
he was a deceptive little cheater, and yet he was favored over his brother?
he used a blatant trick to confuse his obviously blind old father...how is he a biblical hero?.

Good point Berten! Apparently, Jehover declines to use his more miraculous powers when it interferes with his love for death and dismemberment

A day in field service
by dsgal in7:30-too early to get up on a saturday morning but the co is visiting and i must show up to make our cong.
9:00 - arrive at kh, smile and say "good morning" to everyone (even though i'm still half asleep).
he visited had 69 people when he was there.

Gawrsh, I was thinking dsgal was super-diligent for being in the territory by 9:30! Our meetings for service never even started until 9:15; we were "lucky" to be "in service" by 10:00. Of course, being back at the KH at 11:45 to make plans for lunch/"return visits" meant that you'd racked up at least 2 hours already! And bonus minutes (hours if you were a pioneer) if you left mags at a laundromat on the way to the KH before 9:15!

Old Light Vs New Light. The Light is not Bright
by RevJohn inold light vs. new light
the lighter is not bright .
the watchtower writes "if we were following a man undoubtedly it would be different with us; undoubtedly one human idea would contradict another and that which was light one or two years ago would be regarded as darkness now.

The only "new light" I'm interested in seeing:
"NEW LIGHT! We can see now through the clarity of scriptural evidence that the 'new light' teaching is utter BS. This is considered 'old light,' effective immediately. The light remains the same eternally, as God does. It is only the opinion and legal culpability of grumpy old men in Brooklyn that occasionally changes, not the light itself."

BOXERS... MY "boys" don't like the constraint of briefs!
Favorite pairs of boxers: The black ones w/ white handprints on the butt that said "can't touch this"... The ones with a big alien face that said "out of this world"... And the ones with a big jalapeno pepper that said "hot stuff"... These are all, now, sadly demised My current favorite has 1's & 0's all over it & says "Megabyte"

Thanks, JC, that was some very interesting stuff... I guess the jury is still out, but the case for early life on Mars has a lot more to it then I knew. Thanks again!

I love to try new things, and I've hardly ever eaten anything that I wouldn't consider eating again... I think this attitude was ingrained in me at an early age, because my older brother was the world's pickiest eater. I would watch him snub perfectly good food night after night, get punished for it, and keep on doing it... I thought that was stupid, & resolved to always give things a try. Since then I've never met a calorie I didn't like
I'm not a good cook though... Unfortunately! When I do cook, it tastes good, but it always ends up looking different than it should. The most I ever cooked was in my last relationship... I think I tried just about every possible permutation of pancakes & omelettes back then Cooking "breakfast" is my fave; I'll even cook an omelette for dinner. But being a single guy, I just don't cook very often... I tend to belong to the "tuna fish sandwich" class these days! If I could afford to eat out more, I'd constantly be eating sushi, steak, all kinds of seafood (especially crayfish, MMMMMMMM), Ethiopian, Greek, Thai... anything spicy or eclectic... I'd love to learn to cook exotic foods, but I know I'd hardly ever cook for myself anyway. When I get hungry, I want to eat NOW; don't want to wait 1/2 hour or longer for food to be ready!

Jesus, can you post a link regarding the Nakhla meteorite? LOL, I feel silly asking someone who walked on water if they can post a link, but I mean would you mind?
