You have already proven yourself to be a strong your lady. You could look at the situation as a one year job assignment. Keeping peace with your parents will pay room and board, which is their legal and ethical responsibility. Don't put too much much energy into fighting them, but do put energy into getting your diploma and starting a career that will make it possible to support yourself.

Should I just tell my parents
by BlackWolf inlately i've been feeling just so fed up with this stupid religion i really can't take it anymore!
i'm starting to think that maybe i should just tell my parents how i really feel.
if they treat me too badly or kick me out i could probably stay with my non jw aunt.. ive just reached my breaking point, i don't really care what people think of me anymore.

Simon: What happens when you can no longer support this site?
by StephaneLaliberte inhey simon, .
the recent closure of jwr made me realize that this site may not be eternal as well.
a great deal of people attach a lot of importance to xjw communities and yours is the best.

Simon,
I recently joined this forum and I want to thank you for your work and for your help. This site has helped me wake up. I have seen some incredibly good research here, which often shocked me. At times I would go over to JWR and find some very kind and comforting words there. That gave me the strength to come back here for more information that is hidden by WT, sometimes in plain sight. I think that combination, along with an objective look at my local congregation helped me get as far as I am now.
I hope some of our friends coming over from JWR can bring some of the gems that were developed in the threads over there. It would be a pity to lose all of that.

Feeling Sad After Uncovering TTATT
by pale.emperor inmy initial pangs of unease and doubt led me to research some things.
well, a lot of things really.
i've never felt comfortable using the bible to try to calculate dates (1914).
-
Dreamerdude
Pale.emperor, your OP really struck a chord with me.
I recently started to wake up to TTTATT also. It happened mainly through WT sources, then seeing the list in Steve Hassan's book, of characteristics of mind-controlling cults.
The grief was sharp and deep when I realized I had believed lies. I cried inconsolably for an entire night. It was exactly the same as earlier times, when my mother died, then when my father died. On all three occasions, I felt much better the next day. My way of releasing the pain was to cry like a baby, even though I am a grown man. The pain came out as tears and sweat.
After that, my depression gradually lifted, with the help of some kind people here. It is hard for awhile, but I can assure you that things get better. I am work in process, but I feel good being mentally free.

Japanese Still-ins are outraged with this Video
by nakanozzi ina youtube video posted by jwfairytale , japanese edition.. http://youtu.be/_adktmq-rba.

Nakanozzi, thanks for sharing that. The Japanese provide a large part of WT revenue and host a super branch. The are justifiably upset that their money is misused.

Any news about changes in the Elder’s arrangement?
by Hecce innot based on any major reliable information, just spiritual gossip among some very weak spiritually friends.. since the wt has made monumental changes in personnel, including bethel and cos; some are speculating that eventually there will be a cutback in the number of elders in a congregation and a return to the 1930-1970 servant’s model.. i can see some good reasons for this:.
poor quality among the elders, maybe one or two are really carrying the entire load.
the merging of the congregations will create a glut of elders strange to each other, the more that they have the more conflicts in the making.. the duties of the elders have been decreasing and most of the decisions are made upstairs.. the pre 1970 arrangement worked really well and it will take the wt less than 1-3 to find a biblical basis to bring it back.. friends, just some saturday morning thoughts.. thanks for reading..

While I agree there will likely continue to be a push to remove power from local elders, they need to provide titles to a large percentage of the brothers to keep maximum control. A brother is not fully enfranchised unless he is an elder. And he does not qualify to have sex unless he is a MS.
A few years ago I heard that elders make up 10% of all publishers in the US, and MS 7%. That leaves about 18% nonservant brothers (baptized pre teens and teens, slackers, those who stepped aside and those who were pushed aside). And 65% sisters.

The report from the first RC looks great! You beat WT. I feel bad for poor 68 that got baptized and had to see the bunker videos the next morning. They got culted. I hope less had to suffer at Long Beach. But some of us have to suffer before we wake up. -

Did The Witnesses Predict the United Nations in Advance?
by TD init's been reported on this forum that bethel speakers at this summer's conventions are asserting that the establishment of the united nations in 1945 was predicted in advance by the witnesses.
this is being presented as validation of the claim that the witnesses are god's one true organization directed by holy spirit.. .
the basis for this claim originates with a public address entitled, peace - can it last given by n.h. knorr at the new world theocratic assembly, on september 20 of 1942. .

Freddo, thanks for sharing the funeral experience. I can see how some can be manipulated in the same way this summer with the bunker videos. -

Comment from Examining the WT Daily May 22
by Dreamerdude insomehow i missed this silly comment in the wt study las year.
i just have been daydreaming.
but wt wants tomane sure i get the point.. "after the death of the apostles, satan fomented apostasy, which flourished for many centuries.

Lieu, you're right about them making thei stuff up. That's an interestignt bought about young Timothy. I he went apostate about 100AD, along with his children and grandchildren. I wonder about the four daughter of Philip the Evangelist. They were so spiritually strong they could prophesy. I think at least one would want to marry an MSand raise some Christian children and grandchildren. All them must have stopped cold turkey about 100AD, so it would leave room in the 144,000 for all the crazy people that partake today.
Its possible the estimated 1 million Christians at the end of the first century all turned on Christ at once. But I doubt it.
This comment sounds like what Paul warned about in Hbrews 13:9 -
Do not be led astray by various and strange teachings, for it is better for the heart to be strengthened by undeserved kindness (grace) than by foods, which do not benefit those occupied with them.
