Little group that had a popular song in the mid 90's called the New Radicals. He was born & raised a jdub. You can hear some of it in his lyrics for sure. Good stuff.

Ouija Boards
by StinkyPantz inwell, i was talking on the phone to my best friend and we started talking about aliens, spirits, etc.
and eventually we got around to discussing the ouija board.
since i was raised a jw and have only been out a year, the ouija board was of course forbidden and even a little scary.

I left Jdub-dum 13 years ago, grew up in it. I was of course always terrified of them. Never saw one in person even until just last year. My roommate owned one and had it in our apartment. It sort of bothered me that she had it, but I didnt really pay much attention and just ignored it. One day she had it out on our livingroom coffee table. I was alone at home..
My curiosity got the best of me. I was just thinking, this is a load of crap. So... i put my fingers on it, and I said outloud... "I dont believe in you". Can I tell you that this is one of the strangest experiences I've ever had in my life... it actually SHOCKED my fingers... not a bolt of shock, but like a buzzing electricity of some sort.... and it moved my fingers to the words on the board "crazy". I was totally taken back, and my fingers felt weird... so I did it again... it moved my fingers AGAIN, to the words "crazy". OH MY GOD, I was FREAKED!!!! The rest of the day my fingers hurt me! Not horrifying pain, just this achey feeling. I put that thing behind some books on our bookshelf and never wanted to see it again.
Very strange things, they are. I have a healthy respect for them at this point. But I think I'll stay away from now on.....

I agree w/Derrick. There's nothing wrong with her asking for credit where credit is due. She did tell you that you could use her words, as long as her name appears by them. If she wrote it, she definitely does deserve the credit for it. I dont think she was *threatening* you, but just letting you know that the words belong to her, and asking you to do the right thing. So you didn't know they were her words before... now you do.
Diane Wilson's book is excellent by the way. I would recommend it to anyone. It's more of a personal story than any other exjdub books I've read. And what's even more cool is that I went to the congregation that she writes about. So I can only guess which elder's she is talking about in the book as she relates her personal stories... pretty cool.
Have a nice day,

I posted several months back about a book that I knew of that was being released in 2002. It was written by a women who was in the congregation that I grew up in. She was an elder's wife and I grew up with her daughter who is my age. The book has been published and released and is on bookstore shelves now. It's entitled Awakening of a Jehovahs Witness: Escape from the Watchtower Society by Diane Wilson. She had a booksigning at a bookstore in our local area here (Bay Area, California) and I met again with Diane. She's a great lady and has been through a lot, as have we all. Her book is an autobiography of sorts. It's more a personal story than anything else. I have started reading it, and hope to finish in in the next week or so. I'll give my review soon.
She's also getting some local press. For those of you who live in the Bay Area, you might want to check out the San Jose Mercury News this Sunday in the Religion section. They are doing a story on her.
All for now! Sorry I have not been around, I got a new job in January that keeps me very busy and leaves me little time to be on the board. I miss you all and hope you're doing well.

Who has sayings of everlasting life?
by Pepper indespite all the problems i have had with many people in the jehovah's witness's religion, i would not know the basic truths that i have learned if it were not for jehovah's witness's.. the hope that learned, i still have; though i no longer attend the meetings i miss the meetings, personal and family problems that really no one other than god him self can fully understand at that time so many years ago.. i know now that i have atemped in the past to haave the brothers and sisters to understand what i my self could not grasp about my problems that perplexed me beyond what i could deal with.. sense that time i have also learned that it really is jehovah that i should render my service to and no one else, it him i must fuloly rely on for aid compleatly not humans.. thanks, pepper

Your perception is all that you really know. You have been taught to be afraid of what you dont know. You have fear of opening your mind to anything but what has been drummed into your brain from your family, friends and your religion. And that is okay. We are all who we are from our past. Some of us hold onto that forever, and some of us move on and grow and change.
There is so much out there to wonder about. If you chose to still believe the one and only thing that you know, then that will be your life. It is scary to let go of all you know. If you can open your mind and make a choice to ask questions, that maybe have no clear cut answers, then maybe you will see something that you never thought possible. Life is really not black and white, or cut and dry. There is not one simple answer for all mankind. We must each chose our own path through this place called life.
All I can say is that there is no one place to receive "sayings of everlasting life". None of us will know that ellusive "truth" until our life is over, if we find out at all. Until then, we can all only live off of the experiences that we've had in our lives. We can gather from people around us, from nature, from all religions and ideas. If we refuse to gather from any source but one, then we are shut into our own dark world.
Enjoy your search, or enjoy staying put.
Best to you,

Well, I'm DA'd Now! :)
by rem inmy judicial meeting took place on monday night.
i was a bit annoyed because the meeting centered on my private beliefs - things that i've already spoken to the elders about in the past many times before.
i don't think i handled myself as well as i wanted to, but i guess i did ok under the circumstances.
