  So Sad....

  imagine this.. a little child,about 3 or 4, sitting there, looking around.... he leans over and sees his shoe is untied, he looks up at his parent who doesn't seem to care much, almost falling asleep, so he leans over and ties it all by himself for the first time!

  he smiles proudly and looks up at his parent and tuggs on their shirt.

  the parent looks down with anger and pinches the little boy on the arm real hard.

  Ok, that just made me really really sad. I was picturing it while I was reading it. I dont think it was shoe tying for me. But those meetings. Sitting there as a young girl... all the children that are going thru this still, right now. Well I guess it taught us to pay attention. Hmmm, no wonder I'm so impatient and cant sit still as an adult!

  Very sad indeed. If this is a true memory for you, I'm sorry. Someone should have been there to see your little acomplishment, and given you a kiss on a dry cheek. No tears....

  *SIGH*, why cant we all just get along? NY, I've watched your posts over the past few months. I've always wondered your stand on things and why you are here. Hey, if you can get away with what none of us could, then more power to your jw self.

  I think some of us are just hurt and upset that our congregations did the black and white thing. Sounds like you've got it made with those grey areas, and that's not really fair when eternal fates are at stake. All I can say is to each his own. I dont get you. But what does that matter.

  can a 19 yr old male christian go out with a 19 yr old female jehovah's witness?

  if not, are their any ways around it?

  i me and this female really like each other but cant be seen together due to her religion.

  Well, has anyone here said, yes go for it!? No. No one has. As another poster said, you are too young to be in this territory. There are many other girls that will most likely be better suited for you. Most of us are telling you not to go to this territory because we've been there. All that situations like this cause is heartbreak for the most part.

  Maybe it will work out for you. I hope it does if you decide to pursue things. Just look out!

  I think we all know Jdubs like this. They are out there everywhere. Getting away with the little things. Let them. Geesh, I dont know how people can do the double life thing. Didn't work for me. I'd rather be completely myself than try to look good on both sides of the fence. Screw that. [>:(]

  The Jdubs that I dislike the most are the ones that live double lives that brag about being able to get away with it. While most slave for the organization with black and white, they get away with GREY. They can have their cake and eat it too. They consider themselves better because they can get away with having a personality, yet still be a jdub. I think many who think this way look down on others even in their own congregations, as following sheep. Why? Because they are unique and can think apart. What? Think apart? Would that not be independent thinking? Or wait, would that not be hypocrisy?

  Hmmmmmmmmm.

  Post WTBTS Life

  i have been inactive for about three and a half years now and just recently after making some big changes in my life have i made a commitment not to return to the "organization".

  for quite awhile now i've just felt like i was apathetic towards religion.

  now i'm disgusted by religion, religious dogma, and fanaticism.. one thing that i've noticed in those i deal with that are ex-witnesses is that many tend to swing the exact opposite direction once they leave.

  Angst,

  Everyone needs to make their own decisions in life. As a JW most of us did not have any choices. There was one way, or Satan's way.

  Not every ex-jw who leaves becomes "immoral". In fact, most of them that I know live similar lives as they did before, they just are no longer JWs. I dont know where you get the idea that most people go crazy with sex, drugs, and "bad" things when they leave. Just because you might still think celebrating holidays is "wrong" does not mean it's true. Many ex-JWs are no longer religious and "celebrate" the holidays for family purposes. Everyone must do what they feel is right for themselves. Just because someone doesn't do it the way you do it, doesn't mean it's wrong.

  Getting past the judgementalism is the hardest part. If the JWs did anything for me it was to make me very accepting of people in their place in life. It's called tollerance and acceptance.

  just to get an idea as to how many people are coming to toronto for the next apostofest, in case i need to make reservations at various places...all because the toronto international film festival will be taking place on the same weekend!
