Just makes the point that there are still people in this world that will endure great hardship and give up their old life to make a better new life for their children, rather than sit around and expect someone else to do it for them.

It's a heartwarming story, but one wonders what will happen, now that they have gone from extreme poverty shared by everyone around them, and are asked to remain poor and uneducated while surrounded by opportunity.

I'm frankly puzzled. The article she wrote for the Orlando Times would have called for a visit to the back room in my congregation. Are they that lenient in that area, or is she already beginning a drift away from the Organization?

As this type of news becomes more common, I would hope that it encourages others to come forward. The appeal for victims in New Jersey could signal a large scale international effort to bring the Watchtower policies to light. The more lawsuits, the sooner the Org runs out of funds.

my wife and son were watching the january broadcast and one of the segments was about william tyndale.
william tyndale was a bible translator in the early 16th century.
i always knew that the org held men like tyndale, john hus and john wycliffe in high regard.
How could Tyndale and the others be anointed? They were highly educated, which immediately casts doubt on their qualifications. Add a beard and its a no go.
has a profound influence on our life.
on the one hand we have the background of our childhood, our upbringing, but when we leave and become apart of society, our witness traits and their set of beliefs are not tailored to fit in.
however as i slowly learnt to know longer judge from the perspective of my witness life, i also learnt i am simply an ordinary person.
In the world it's OK to have doubts, questions, and opinions. That alone is worth leaving the Org.
undeserved kindness means- you puny humans are irredemable and worthless, but because i am such a benevolent and magnanimous god.
i give you a way for salvation.
but you better keep working day in and day out for the rest of your miserable lives and perhaps i'll save you on my day of wrath.

something jehovah's witnesses do not talk about so much these days is the "north and south kings" of the book of daniel, and the reason is obvious.
this is one of many failed prophecies of the governing body.. they have not been able to present any new north king since the soviet collapse in december 1991, over 25 years ago now!
and this at a time when they are "so close to the end.
With Trump in office, I wouldn't count out Russia as King of the North.
