So I sent a letter outlining the scriptures that support shunning versus the 3 times as many that support not shunning. This is the below response that I received. I will be announced tomorrow night and wanted them to know since that is the fair and adult thing to do. I hate they are hurting but not for one minute will I apologize or do I regret my decision.

Why do CO's refuse to strip Elders of their position?
by Tenacious inin several congregations i attended many elders were downright evil and flat out drunk with power.. many times i personally knew of things done by them that would have been a disfellowshipping offense had they not been elders.
and even though many times these issues and spiritual atrocities were reported to the co's and hq they would many times (if not all the time), get off with a mere slap on the wrist or a forced apology.. why do you believe elders are so protected?.
my theory is the authority integrity within the congregation.

The reality is that their is a shortage of qualified men. I have seen that it is much easier to stay an Elder than to become qualified to become an Elder. It is structured corporate style. The CO's do not want to have much of a headache and that's why they are reluctant to appoint and reluctant to remove as both require action on their part and they could face being removed if they make bad choices. (Imagine being on the road for 30 years and having no income or retirement to speak of) They are going to ride that gravy train as long as they can.
There is no holy spirit directing these ones, it is all Egos and Corporate Policies.

Why can they not follow their own advice in print?
by HiddenPimo inwhen persons are in great danger from a source that they do not suspect or are being misled by those they consider their friends, is it an unkindness to warn them?
they may prefer not to believe the warning.
they may even resent it.

When persons are in great danger from a source that they do not suspect or are being misled by those they consider their friends, is it an unkindness to warn them? They may prefer not to believe the warning. They may even resent it. But does that free one from the moral responsibility to give that warning?

No longer Hidden
by HiddenPimo ini wrote a letter some time ago and to my surprise and despite the elders manual saying that a letter is sufficient for establishing 'wrongdoing' they would not announce me as no longer a jw until i met with 2 elders to verbally acknowledge that the letter was written by me.. .
well yesterday i met with them and the meeting lasted 2 minutes.
"did you write the letter?

I wrote a letter some time ago and to my surprise and despite the Elders Manual saying that a letter is sufficient for establishing 'wrongdoing' they would not announce me as no longer a JW until I met with 2 Elders to verbally acknowledge that the letter was written by me.
Well yesterday I met with them and the meeting lasted 2 minutes. "Did you write the letter?" "Yes, those words were penned by me and express my wish to longer be a JW." "OK, now we would like to meet with you as a committee to see if you are really meaning what you said." I replied, "That will not be necessary, I was an Elder and it would be a waste of all of our times when the end result is going to be the same regardless, please use your time to help someone who really needs it or spend that time with your families, I am good here."
So they will announce me on July 9th - What a relief I feel. And while my aversion to meeting with them because I didn't want them to have the upper hand kept me from meeting to acknowledge the letter, this moment felt so good, to break free from their grasp and not allow them to control me any longer. Denying them the opportunity to have me in a Kangaroo court.
So this begs the question - How do I change my user name? ;-)

Regional Convention - Greenville, SC USA
by HiddenPimo inso my brother who never got baptized went to the convention today (went to make mom and dad happy since they are devastated that i am out) and he got very upset during the baptism talk and walked out because 3 of the candidates were under the age of 12 years of age.
he said they have no clue what they are committing themselves to and will face what you faced (referring to me).
i really wish the usa government would start cracking down on this cult..
