I believe it was on the Today show or one of those morning shows, he went on and said he had been raised a witness but left as a teenager and his mother on her death bed asked him to do one last thing for her and that was to become a baptized Jehovah's Witness. So he told her he would do that and he did. He said though it has brought him so much happiness to have found God. I think to the death of his child had something to do with it.

Prince Says...............
by professor in"you can live forever (and that's a mighty long time) in paradise on earth!".
is he baptized yet?
it would get him a lot closer to being an ex-jw and then maybe we could talk to him here!

What age group is more prone to become JW's?
by JH in.
when i attended meetings years ago, the only new faces i saw were brothers and sisters who moved to our congregation from another congregation, or children growing up.
i rarely saw new people who came because someone knocked on their door.. do you think that there is an age group more prone to become jw's?

I would say mostly depressed woman. Our territory was in navy housing and alot of the woman would start studying when their husband was out to sea and they were longing for something to do because they stayed home all day with their children and didn't have alot of adult interaction. Some would come in and be witnesses but most stopped studying once their husbands got back and their lives went back to normal.

I had doubts for about 6 years before I left. Ever since I was about 15 I had things I didn't really believe and I made those questions known to my family who is filled with elders and pioneers and no one would answer them. I stayed a witness though because you had to be a witness as long as you lived under my parents roof. Then I married a witness and about 6 months after we were married we started fading and were completely out within one year. It was the best decision we have ever made and I think it made us closer and our marriage better.

Thanksgiving
by Parliament inthanksgiving...i remember when i was told that jw's didn't celebrate thanksgiving.
i remember when i was a kid that, that was the day for our entire witness family to get together.
i was told everyone was off of work and turkey was cheap and it's a great excuse for everyone to get together.

My family on thanksgiving day would get together and bbq hamburgers at the park and on friday all get together for turkey. Its funny my cousins husbands family who celebrates thanksgiving all get together at the park for thanksgiving instead of having a traditional meal. Isn't thanksgiving just about family and friends and being able to all get together and get along for one day. Isn't that what the whole holiday season is. Its a time of giving and togetherness and letting all the differences you have go away for this time of year. I always felt the holiday season was the nicest time of year. My mom used to tell me see how awful all the people are and stressed out and I would think no I see how happy the people are to give and be with their families. I always envied that growing up.

Knock Knock ... Good Morning, I'm one of Jehovah's Witnesses ......

Welcome Groovycat. I hated service I would only get 2 hours a month. My Favorite was when I left a Mag at the laundry mat on my way to work and counted my 45 minute drive as time you do that a few times a month no need to go out in service.

All Secret Santa Paricipants sign in here please!
by Gadget inthe details of who to send a gift to will be getting pm'd to you all either friday afternoon or saturday morning!
according to the information i've found online the last posting day for standard parcels is dec 11th for usa and december 15th for the uk/europe, so you should all have plenty of time to select and send a gift, although sending sooner rather than later is prefered.
can everyone taking part post on this thread what things they like, what their interests are etc so that the person who is buying a gift for you has some idea what to get you.

Best turkey recipe?
by bebu inhere's one i've used for years.
i only urge caution if your oven fluctuates or is unreliable in temperature, or if you think the power will go out for some reason during the course of baking.
take your bird, get it all ready to roast (stuff it just before you are prepared to bake it).
