In the article in the paper this morning, it said they were trying to convert women. It sounded like these girls went to the clubs and got the women to give them a lap dance at which time they talked to them about Jesus. Now to me, and I'm not speaking here from experience, wouldn't it make more sense if men were getting the lap dance and doing the attempted conversion.
But obviously what makes sense to me is only my opinion, as Brooke has so aptly pointed out.

How many of you Xian women out there would be willing to get a lap dance by another woman to turn her on the Jesus?
i have found a lot of people no longer believe in god or jesus since leaving the organization.. im very shocked at this.
if you dont believe, can you tell me what brought to that conclusion?.

after reading for a few months this is my first post here.
i was raised a jehovah's witness by my parents who became jw's in the late '70s from field service.
i'm still a jw but doing a lot of researching on the history of the wts.

Something else about this thread. Since figuring out the JW scam, I have tried to be open minded (which BTW I don't think is really possible) and examine other beliefs.
Please don't take this as anything but my own personal observation, but for some time I have read JamesThomas's posts with interest. I have read them and reread them, like the ones on this thread. But for the life of me I can't fathom what you are saying. I'd like to but for whatever reason I just can't connect. Am I alone in feeling that way?

For me this says it all:
God is simply a belief, an imagination, an invention of the human mind.
There is no evidence that god exists, therefore he does NOT exist. The complete lack of evidence over all of human history is proof he does not exist. I don't go with the agnostic view that "there's no evidence that god exists, therefore he might".
I am convinced that those who have had some kind of "personal revelation" have either faulty brain chemistry, are delusional, or just plain nuts. Some choose to believe in god because they can't cope with reality without a crutch. Many (like a good percentage of JW's) say they believe in god but in reality don't. I was one of those, which flies in the face of "Elders are appointed by Holy Spirit" eh. :-)
But hey, if belief in the delusion of god helps you cope with life a little easier, then who am I to judge? Just don't try to impose your belief on me, and stay out of politics.

My problem with Christians is that they are constantly trying to spread their beliefs. At least in the U.S., I can never remember turning on the TV on Sunday morning and seeing anything but Christianity being spread. I couldn't help but notice his serious elder face when he told you they DF'd you, like he was telling you something that you really cared about. I loved your tone of voice. I really can't believe they stayed as long as they did.

i watched "the island" last night with my lyal jw wife.
my apostate buddy told me there were a lot of similarities in the movie with figuring out the jw scam.
i think that's an understatement.. what stuck out to me is how lincoln (the clone) returned to help out his friends.

I already watched "The Village" with my wife. That was an interesting experience. I had mentioned I wanted to see it, actually because someone here had recommended it. So she brought it home one night. Well, there happened to be some JW's at our house visiting her and she invited them to watch it. I never said a word about it, but about half way through they started saying "What is this? Who recommended this?" I knew how it would end so I said nothing. There was not too many comments at the end, I think they realized what had just taken place and I'm fairly sure they made the connection, at least my wife did.
About getting people out, I have been much more successful in that than I ever was bringing them in and I am very proud of it. Being a successful fader helps for sure. When you stop and consider it, being someone who notices the moth and starts thinking about it and then acts upon it, you are a rare individual.
