  i was an elder in the 1970's and i was not a big fan of the "stay alive until 75" dogma.

  i was looked down upon by the heavy hitters on the body of elders and in time i changed my mind.

  i knew of the failed prophecy of 1914 being the end of all times which was repeated for the year 1925...yet i came to believe well maybe this time they've got it right.. with every new watchtower, i combed over every word to find support for my change in my belief that the end was coming in fall of 1975. at the district assembly in 1975, everyone clung onto every word in the final talk.

  Help Please - Finding It Hard Adjusting To The Real World

  im asking for you guys help in a phase im going through right now.

  im sure it’ll pass but id appreciate your advice..

  What your going through is somewhat a normal process for born ins who leave like myself. Some things that may help.

  * It's a process that takes time, be patient. You were indoctrinated for decades so it will take some amount of time to deprogram. For me, it took over a year of no distraction (other than my job and kids) deprogramming before being out felt more normal than being in.

  * Lower your expectations when it comes to how many friends you will have or even need. You will likely never has as many friends now then the so called friends as JWs. I personally found that one or two authentic friends was enough for me.

  * Be patient, it does get better with time.

  * I got divorced also during my exit period and I intentionally decided to hold of with dating other women for one year. This helped me focus more time on my deprogramming and protected me from getting into a rebound relationship that I would regret later. This worked well for me.

  * Keep coming here for support.

  * If you get a chance to contact relatives, let them know that in order to maintain family connections you a willing to never discuss any religious topics with them as long as they don't with you. This don't ask don't tell relationship did work for my father and I. But don't get your hopes up if they are hardcore JWs they probably won't budge.

  * Always remember, the problem lies with them, not YOU!

  I know what you are going through, it can be tough, but if you stick it out you will more than likely not have regrets later.

  in his final talk he mentioned that at the fight of armageddon jesus will fight together with the 144 000. he then reminds the audience that one angel destroyed 185000 assyrians.

  so what are "144 000 immortal creatures together with jesus going to do".

  need advise.

  i was in a relation with a jw girl for almost three years(im am not jw) and we are so inlove with each other until someone saw us from her congregation and she was disfellowed and that where the oddness happened.

  her family and friends are not talking to her anymore, she wants me to stop seeing and talking to her anymore not until i became a baptized jw.

  this week bible reading is ps.102-105.

  i noticed in ps 105:15: saying, “do not touch my anointed ones,and to my prophets do nothing bad.".

  so are these part of the 144,000?

  let this story be a warning for all you guys here.

  if you value your privacy do not ever send your real contact details to anyone, even if you trust them (because their accounts could be hacked or accessed by their relatives - and yes, this happened to people i know several times already).
