Door To Door
by ladonna inmy father a ms told me several months ago that jw's no longer do "regular door to door witnessing".
he told me this as i said to him i cannot remember the last time i saw a jwitness at my door which was unusual.. has anyone any answers to this?.

I hear it was a dub who invented the verticle turntable in response to the need this generated. It's sad that the totalitarian WBTS didn't encourage the creative spirit of this guy and many other Dubs and let them contribute their energy and ingenuity to "the work" in the ways which turned them on, rather than a one size fits all door-to-door ministry only policy. The door-to-door work has died in the arse, but has not been replaced by any true innovation like the vertical turntable. Totalitarian Russia had the odd innovation too, but they tended to only be of the military kind...

Have backpack; will travel! The notebook weighs about 3kg; the webcam is negligible. Add that to the weight of my steak, it only comes to about 5kg! LOL

From Simony to Paedophilia
by Stephanus ini remember a few years ago a watchtower article on simony, the buying or selling of privileges in a church setting.
the wording struck me at the time.
there was one of those "true christians should" statements that proliferate in the wt: something along the lines of "true christians should not be giving money in exchange for positions within congregations" or some such (i may have to dig through my old issues of the 'tower to find it).

Actually that whole Simony article was really making it clear that it is tempting for "Christians" to take that route, meaning, I guess, that it was rife in the JWs. So, why? Is there a sort of adoration of position in the JWs whereby people would be quite willing to buy the CO/DO a new car to become an elder (after all, that was the going price for promotion under Norr, was it not?)? Do people suck up to elders by inviting the elders over for dinner but don't extend the same kindness to R&F doing it hard?
