What the ...??
Beck, where have you been??
yep, bourdain's no reservations tops my list of favorites.. why is it that shows on food and cooking, reality or otherwise, kick the ass of just about everything else on tv?
what do you expect with crap like america's got talent?
yeah, maybe it does, but not much of it's getting on that show!.
What's that place in New York that names sandwiches after celebrities? The only one I recall is the "Katy Kouric", made with a "ham" and a "turkey", IIRC.
whats up with these people going to hang out with hugo chavez?
why not go tour north korea, hell just leave america and go live there!
I certainly do not agree with what they are saying or their recent actions... which is why I have stopped watching their movies.
I ditched Glover when he did that woeful attempt at being Ogion the Silent in the even more woeful movie version of Ursula leGuin's Earthsea. (While we're banning stuff, the Hallmark channel might be a good place to start!) That he became a Chavez suck-up later surprised me not at all!

For me the situation is no more about oil than Zimbabwe is. It's about crackdown on liberty in a former democracy -StephanusLike in the United States? So, what is the crackdown here about?
Where are your political prisoners? Where are the streams of people trying to escape your country. Please don't try to be too ridiculous: you're comparing apples and bowling balls!

He's never 'wished destruction' on the USA.
He may not be saying as much in so many words, but his actions speak loudly. He's in the process of cultivating friendships with some of the world's worst regimes in order to take a "defensive stance" against big bad Uncle Sam. If you see Uncle Sam as big and bad, then you won't see that as a problem. You usually choose your friends according to how similar their views are to yours.
BTW, Chavez made a big thing about how Venezuela, Bolivia and Curacao were going to band together and repel any American agression directed at them. While not a direct threat (if ludicrous!), it's certainly sabre rattling. Sounds like someone who wants the other guy to start something.

Journey-on, that's just confusing; here in Oz, the "Liberals" are the conservative party! (And Labor are the liberals.)

And it never seems to occur to right wingers that perhaps that isn't really a very healthy position for our country to be in.
And it never occurs to you not to applaud, either, it would seem. I was always of the opinion that if something wasn't healthy, I shouldn't be a partaker thereof.

He nationalized the country's oil industry. That's what made him an "enemy" of the Bush administration, and that's why he showed up on your radar screen via Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, etc etc.
Oh, you know me so well!
Unlike you, Mr Djibouti, I actually do live where my profile says I live. I don't watch Fox News, and I can't stand Hannity. I've never, ever listened to anything by Limbaugh. Can we drop the stereotyping now, please?
For me the situation is no more about oil than Zimbabwe is. It's about crackdown on liberty in a former democracy. Chavez is in the process of establishing a one party state and rule by decree. He's not just nationalising oil, he's nationalising other stuff. For the first time in modern history, Venezuela is having food shortages, Cuba and Zimbawe style. Chavez's actions are classic, as are the results: enact the policies of failed dictatorships, and you get the same kind of failed economies.
Would Glover and Penn be happy if the US film industry were nationalised? Would you write off their complaints as "only those of a vested interest"?

You don't live in "Bush's America", you live in The United States of America. By sucking up to the enemies of America, you aren't being anti-Bush, you're being anti-allUSCitizens. It's not rocket science.
...right-wing violence mongers...
You really nailed me down in that stereo-typical box!
Chavez is currently in the process of doing to Venezuela what Mugabe has done to Zimbabwe. You don't need his help to replace the current administration. Why are lefty pinko surrender-monkeys so damned obtuse??

So those that don't agree with the Bush administration should...
...suck up to dictators who wish the destruction of the USA?
Is that what you're saying?
Isn't there some sort of "third way"? Like, maybe, campaigning for the Democrats in the upcoming US election? If you think that disliking the current president is akin to giving aid and comfort to America's enemies, I don't think much of your reasoning abilities, when it comes to things political!
Remember, these guys aren't just expressing an opinion on the current US Administration, they're throwing in their lot with another country's president, who wishes ill will to America.
