Death with Dignity

i've presented myself on this db with a strong inclination that there is such a thing a death with dignity, including my expressed (and still resolved) determination to refuse a blood transfusion (or any other organ or fluid implant from another human being) to prolong my life (for reasons that have nothing to do with jw pseudo-theology).. in that determination, i obviously have a personal ideal of a "death with dignity.".

however, last night, i watched an interview wherein the commentator said "there is no dignity in death; there is only dignity in life.".

it gave me serious pause for thought.. i'd appreciate your perspectives.. craig

I'm still curious how refusing a blood transfusion and/or an organ transplant is dignified..

so the prelude to this wee trip starts with work - doesn't it always.. as part of my recent job change i had to write a paper that needed agreement with most of the local authorities (health board, council - which is kinda like our version of city hall, etc.

) before it gets submitted to the ministers at the scottish parliment at the end of december.. well, after one long round of consultation (during which i produced a 39 page consultation document), another few weeks creating the first draft (another 27 pages) i was all ready to go to press the next day when i got an eleventh hour email (at 5:30pm, just before i went home).

it changed everything!

I'd like to hear about your retreat sometime in detail.. I couldn't imagine life with no Internet and virtually no cell phone ..

..oh and your nephews are gorgeous!

Part of my birthday 'present' is that Jon is taking me to a shooting range. I've only held a gun once in my life, but have always had this secret desire to shoot at things. I'm really excited about this!
