It says they were married in a JW ceremony. Don't both people involved have to be baptized before an elder will marry the two? Or does one just have to be a millionaire?

My daughter called this am/after 3yrs
by DannyBear iniam pleased to report, my jw daughter called me this morning.. needless to say i was thrilled to hear from her.
as many of you know to well, it is a small blessing, but huge when it's coming from an active jw.. i have decided to leave off talking anything jw related, and just enjoy getting caught up on the latest in her life.. there is hope.. danny

This is my opinion. Just remain inactive. Even if you feel like you could never be a JW again at least those who are only inactive aren't shunned. If you carry the title "inactive" as opposed to "disfellowshipped" or "dissassociated" you can keep your family and friends and won't have to deal with the hurt that so many of us have.

Hearing Kingdom Songs on Dateline.......sickened
by Mulan indid anyone else have the bile come up, when you heard those "kingdom songs" during the dateline show?
it made me feel ill.........and almost like leaving the room.
i wonder why i have such an aversion to anything connected to a kh meeting?

fortunately, i decided that since i wasn't an active witness i could go ahead and read all that naughty apostate literature that we weren't allowed to read before.
well, i'm glad that i did, because now my eyes are open.

I appreciate everyone's thoughts. I have thought about how I felt when I realized all of the lies I had believed my whole life. At first I was very hurt and even more confused, but eventually I was grateful for the chance to know the truth. I know that my parents would be shattered by the realization that much of their life was in vain, but they are smart people. They have never been given the chance to "see". I want to give them that chance. Wouldn't the truth be better than a lie?

I was recently disfellowshipped, I guess about 9 months ago, but I always figured that I would get reinstated. Fortunately, I decided that since I wasn't an active Witness I could go ahead and read all that naughty apostate literature that we weren't allowed to read before. Well, I'm glad that I did, because now my eyes are open. My problem is this and I want everyone's opinion. The rest of my family (mom, dad, 2 brothers) are still Witnesses that rarely talk to me. How do I get them out? My mom has been a JW for 40 years, my dad 30 years and my brothers are 25 and 13. I especially want to be able to talk to my little brother because he's not baptized yet and I want to give him an option to know the truth about this organization. Unfortunately my parents are the die-hard brand of JWs and I fear there is no help for them. I guess you are probably wondering why I care if they remain. Well I remember reading in the bible that those who follow false prophets will have the same fate as the false prophet. I don't want my parents punished because of the JW blinders that they have worn for so long. Is there any way possible to help my little brother, too? So I guess this is what I'm asking for: if any of you have convinced your family of the real truth, how?

I loved all of the cameras inside the KH. And I also liked the fact that they showed the molesters on TV. There might be some in their congregations who didn't even know about the scum they associate with. Now they know. Hopefully this will open some minds and hearts.
