Jw Learn From The Best
by comforter inthe other day while i was at a discount center, a little girl offered me a tract about jesus.
i looked at her and said, not today.
but i wuz tempted ta say that i am already a christian and believer in the blood of jesus.

Me taking a tract might add to wasting trees but if making the child feel better is the outcome, then being polite is worth it to me. I'm sorry you disagree comforter. . . but then again, JW's aren't known for their loving attitude towards children.

Of course we'd say thank you if a JW child offered us a tract, why wouldn't we?

Why do the Governing body remain unknown?
by sleepy inwhy do the governing body remain unknown to witnesses in general?.
i used to think that the fact that the gb promote themselves (personnaly by name) in the magazines and don't name writers of watchtower articles, was a sign that the governing body was humble and meek.. but why did they take this policy?russel and rutherford were certainly not unkown.when did the transition happen?.
my theory is that this annomimity is use to make the magazines look like they are not aurthored by men.if an article appeared with the writers name , witnesses may choose to reject what is writen as they can see it was writen by a man.but not nameing the writers makes it hard for witnesses to identify the writers as just human like them, and gives the impression the magazines and books have a divine source.. any other ideas?

I also think their anonymity is due to the fact that the Watchtower has been wrong many times in the past and they don't want specific blame for errors. Back then we could say, Russell was wrong about this or Rutherford was wrong about that. Now we cannot blame a specific individual and they like it that way. They are merely covering their own asses.

JW girlfriend
by JohnZogby inhello, i am new to this site, and i am dating a jw.
however, my experience has been quite different from that of others doing the same thing.
unlike other posts that i have read, her parents (we are both 18) are supportive of her relationship with me, she is quite open minded when it comes to social activities, she has both jw and non-jw friends, and is a totally "normal" 18 year old girl.

John I didn't think you were lying per se I just figured we weren't hearing the whole story. I wonder, and maybe you've already stated this, how old is she? If she's over age 18 then there isn't much her parents can do about her seeing you; and it's most likely that when you are not around they share their disapproval with her.
I am almost positive that things will go sour, at least with the parents. I don't know if you are sexually active yet, but if the parents find out she'll be reported to the elders and kicked out of the religion. Then she'll have to choose (in her mind) between you and God. Not an easy choice. . . .
Nevertheless, I wish you luck in your relationship.

A QUESTION FOR JW'S
by Dia inapparently, 'causing divisions' is a disfellowshipping offense for jehovah's witnesses.. now, i have a question for you: .
when someone in the congregation is 'causing divisions' by pointing out the injurious criminal behavior of someone else in the congregation, who is responsible for 'causing divisions'?.
who is 'causing divisions'?.

Dia-
Both parties can be disfellowhsipped. The one accusing and the one being accused, depending on the circumstances. But, if someone brings the media in on it this angers them and I believe (this is only my opinion) that their anger and disgrace are the reason they kick out the person, not for other reasons.
Bleep said: "Even in court there must be at least one witness to the fact." What? Not true! Many people have even gone to jail for murder before a dead body was even found and NO witnessess. I'm sure that you are specifically speaking of child molestation but even that is not true! How often is there a witness to abuse? Five percent of the time maybe. Can't you admit that the elder's policy is wrong and that people shouldn't feel like their children's lives are less important that "keeping the congregation clean"; the same congregation that tells them to hide their secret?
