Comforter says:
modern movies often glorify violence. they contain unnecessary and gratuitous violence and they teach that violence is the answer to your problems. after all, what the use of showing someone with an ax splitting another person's head wide open? why show a man snacking on another man's brains? movies jest try to shock
Aren't these pretty shocking?
-Deuteronomy 22
28 If a man happens to meet a virgin who is not pledged to be married and rapes her and they are discovered, 29 he shall pay the girl's father fifty shekels of silver. [1] He must marry the girl, for he has violated her. He can never divorce her as long as he lives.(So a rape victim must marry her rapist? Isn't that shocking?)
Judges 4:21
But Jael, Heber's wife, picked up a tent peg and a hammer and went quietly to him while he lay fast asleep, exhausted. She drove the peg through his temple into the ground, and he died. (Doesn't glorify violence? Couldn't it just have been written that she killed him? Instead it specifically says that she drove a tent peg through his head.)
Genesis 19:36
So both of Lot's daughters became pregnant by their father. (Just one of many accounts of incest.)
Ezekiel 23:20
There she lusted after her lovers, whose genitals were like those of donkeys and whose emission was like that of horses. (WTF?)
Genesis 34:25
Three days later, while all of them were still in pain, two of Jacob's sons, Simeon and Levi, Dinah's brothers, took their swords and attacked the unsuspecting city, killing every male. (A bit extreme.)
Genesis 37:20
"Come now, let's kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then we'll see what comes of his dreams." (Kidnapping, and faking someone's death.)
Exodus 2:12
Glancing this way and that and seeing no one, he killed the Egyptian and hid him in the sand. (Covering up a murder and hiding the body.)
And you think the movies are bad?
