christmas: a holiday of many hues.
activities range from secular scenes to doing nothing at all .
But the kid still took the candy and hid it, if only not to face ridicule for his "faith". Instead, he should've refused the candy and opened the way for a good informal witness .
i would like to know how many people here are thinking of going back to the hall if the elders go and visit them.
we had stories of people telling the elders that they had enough and wanted to get out.
on the other hand, i am sure a few will go back, but we will not hear their stories as much because they fear the reaction of this board.
I'd go back just so that my parents would let me back into my little brother's life, he's only 13 and I miss him. Yes, I'd be a hypocrite but I also love my brother.
it appears as if this is a haven for those who hate the jehovah's witnesses.
if that is too tough of a stance, then this place is a haven for those who hate the governing body of jehovah's witnesses.
many are apostates.
Hey Gary, are you an Elder by any chance? I was Disfellowshipped by a Gary. Wouldn't it be some coincidence if you're the one? As for your statements:
Hello to all hereIt appears as if this is a haven for those who hate the Jehovah's Witnesses. If that is too tough of a stance, then this place is a haven for those who hate the governing body of Jehovah's Witnesses. Many are apostates. Some are informed ones that were never Jehovah's Witnesses.
I think that you are wrong in your assumption that we hate the Witnesses, afterall many of us still have family that are JW's and we still love them. Also, as for hating the Governing Body, well I personally don't hate anyone but they do seem to lie to/mislead a lot of people. (If you'd like proof I'd love to share it with you).
It has been a long time since I have regularly conversed with apostates and those who wage spiritual warfare (or whose ministry is toward Jehovah's Witnesses) against Jehovah's People. I think the last time were my years when Prodigy was the hot thing. My mother and I had fun coversing, learning and meeting many wonderful people.
Warfare is a bit dramatic if you ask me. I personally only try to help people and not judge them like JWs do.
In my years as one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I have come acrossed many loving and caring people who have genuine concern for those who are a part of this world and do not wish to see them on the other side of the spiritual wall.
What, and non-JWs aren't loving and caring and genuinely concerned for others? To be totally honest, I've met more caring people outside of the JWs. As a JW I saw a tremendous amount of judgemental, uncaring people. Now that I'm out, not a one of them (not even my parents) have been caring towards me, not even the elders. Oh, and why the wall? Many here are God fearing, God serving Christians, doesn't that put them on the right side of "the spiritual wall"?
From the experiences on this message board, there are some who seem to be loving a caring people but are wolves in sheeps clothing. Some in positions of responsibility. It saddens me that they are still considered Jehovah's Witnesses. It angers me that these people have stumbled thier victims out of the truth. May Jesus guide them.
Exactly, let Jesus guide them, not a bunch of old men and some magazines.
Luke 17:2
It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea, than that he would cause one of these little ones to stumble.I hope I will have more fun conversing with many here.
Nice quote, how about this:
" As every one knows, there are mistakes in the Bible"- Watchtower, 1928 (So maybe Luke 17:2 was a mistake, hehehehehe)

thanks for sending me the information on asperger's syndrome (sp?).
well, i have to say that i do have many of the symptoms that were mentioned.
it was strange, because most kids i knew had trouble with math.
I recently took a class in school entitled Developmental Psychology (I'm a psych major) and we discussed both Asperger's Syndrome and Autism. Umm, I thought I understood the condition and honestly I question whether you have this. Most people with Autism or Asperger's Syndrome, which is similar to Autism, but less severe are not aware of it. The fact that you wonder leads me to believe that you don't suffer from it. For example, do you have trouble looking people in the eye? Or with people such as your family touching you? Do you get overly obsessed with things? These are some of the symptoms.
You might have what's called 'social anxiety disorder', or if not you could look into it. Here's a bit about it:
Most people feel shy or self-conscious in social situations. Speaking in public, going on a job interview or even asking for a date can make anyone feel shy or anxious. The symptoms are familiar: your heart pounds, your hands tremble or you feel like you have "butterflies" in your stomach. But this type of anxiety is temporary, and once you get through the situation, life goes on as usual.
If your anxiety about social situations is so severe that it disrupts your daily life and relationships to the point where you are sick with worry, you may have social anxiety disorder. Social anxiety disorder is an excessive, persistent fear of social or performance situations.
The basic symptom of social anxiety disorder is of being very anxious in the presence of others. If you suffer from social anxiety disorder, you may think that other people are very confident in public and you are not. Just blushing may feel horribly embarrassing to you, and you may feel like everyone's eyes are always on you. You may feel anxious about giving a speech, talking to a boss or dating.

The good thing about this is that it is treatable through therapy and possibly medication. Of course I could be wrong, I haven't gotten my degree yet.
Let me know what you think.
i have some questions for a jw if he or she is willinf to answers them.
please reply if you are .
nebuchadnezza .
Well, I used to be a JW so I can give you two angles. What are your questions?
i heard recently that the theocratic ministry school has been modified.
instead of giving the student's grade from the platform, it will now be done in private.
did they finally realize that telling the student that he's getting a "w" is humiliating him, or is there scriptural reasoning for this change?
Wow, I've only been out for less than a year and already so many changes. . it's kind of weird. . .
well, i was talking on the phone to my best friend and we started talking about aliens, spirits, etc.
and eventually we got around to discussing the ouija board.
since i was raised a jw and have only been out a year, the ouija board was of course forbidden and even a little scary.
I should've known that this thread would blow up into a debate between we atheist/agnostics and Christians. Hehe, thanks for a good read. But anyway, though I am agnostic, I still accept the possibility of a spirit realm. So I have a question, why are you that still believe in spirit creatures against the use of a Ouija board? Isn't it possible to contact good spirits too?
