This weeks #2 & #3 talk on homosexuality

after a one year sucessful fade and no longer associated with any congreation, i was visiting my sister this week (who goes to the meeting to please her husband for now; i am slowly planting seeds though) and they decided to year this weeks midweek meeting via the telephone.

since i was a guest in her house, i sat with them in the living room to hear the meeting.

to my surprise (especially growing up as a gay jw with still alot of anger in my heart over how i was treated), the talks 2 and 3 where on, of course, homosexualiy.

To begin with, I want to sincerely thank everyone for their excellent comments on my opening experience. I am humbled by the respect and intelligent arguments that many individuals display here on this forum.

Truthexplorer: Thank you also for expressing your thoughts in a respectfull manner. As someone who spent almost 40 years of my life (as a gay JW) in this organization (in several English and Spanish congregations) I can honestly state that this is a very bigoted organization that is very homophobic. The jokes, the put-downs, the negative gestures and verbal comments that my "brothers and sister displayed" towards gay people can be documented not only by me but other individuals on this forum. I even heard an Elder, a spiritual shepard, who you would think needs to show respect towards all, state in a car group out in service, that he "can't wait till God destroyes all these gay guys!" Yes, this is the culture that many elders, C.O's and by extension, Governing Body members condone. Again, thank you for discussing this manner in such a respectul manner, Truthexplorer. Unfortunately though, you are in the minority in the Witness world when it comes to respecting individuals of all sorts...including gay people.

I forgot to mention in my openning comment regarding hearing this ex-elder giving the #3 talk this week on homosexuality...towards the end of his talk, he not only raised his voice (almost yelling) to display his disgust towards homosexual people but was actually shaking with anger....and then the school overseer got up on stage and told the congreation that this brother did an "excellent job in delivering this talk!!!!"

Therefore, I thank God every day that I am no longer a member of this "Spiritual Paradise."

To my surprise (especially growing up as a gay jw with still alot of anger in my heart over how i was treated), the talks 2 and 3 where on, of course, homosexualiy. In all fairness, the sisters covering the #2 talk where somewhat respectfully and indicated that the problem is not with gay people but rather actions. The number 3 talk was handled by and ex elder. All i can say is that i wished i would have recorded this talk so those on the outside can hear what a loving organization the watchtower is... I could hear the anger in this brothers talk (mentioned about how are society in general will pay the price for allowing same sex unions).

For those of you still attending, perhaps you can relay how these talks where delivered at the local hall. This event just solidifies my good decision of "no longer wanting to be a jehovah's witness!"

In one way, too Bad that i just completed my 9 month fade from this "spiritual paradise" and no longer attend meetings. As a gay "brother" myself, I would have asked the school overseer to give this talk and then try to bring at least one person in the audience into the 21 century (intellectually speaking) by reasoning with them on this subject. My guess would be that the brother in the sound department would just turn off the sound...I sure am glad to be out but feel very sorry for any gay member in the congregation.

The hardship of being a gay Jehovahs witness.

please spare a moment to consider the difiiculties faced by gay jehovahs witnesses.

i was raised and baptised as a very serious jw.

every waking moment of my day was lived for jehovahs and his organization and for nothing else.

Since i have posted before a little bit about my story of growing up as a gay jw man, I will try to be brief. Also, since I have recently come out in the last two years and almost at the end of a fade from this organization, I will try to be as rational as possible.

As has already been discussed by others, this organization has taught me several things in my life (I am almost 40 years old and have been in several English and Spanish congregations throughout the years in the greater Los Angeles area):

1. A gay person in this organization will never have any option to find true love

2. A gay person will constantly be told how bad and evil he is ...

3. He will never truly be accepted as a part of the congreation (unless he stays in the closet and is force to "hide" his true identity).

4. Once you confess to the elders about your feelings, they WILL worn other men about you and no one will ever want to socialize with you..

(for 35 years had many "friends" but once I confessed to the elders that i was a gay man, within weeks my "friends" distanced themselves...

5. Due to the low level of education of many elders, you will be given useless advice such as to be more teocratic or to marry a nice sister.

Therefore, a gay person can either stay in this organization and see his whole life pass away as he "waits for the new system for help" or GET OUT and starting living HIS LIFE! Case in point: Of all the things that i am currently struggling with is having no experience on how to date a person (something that one should have learned in his teenage years...makes me sad sometimes) but I guess it's never to late to learn.

In conclusion, my friend, (and any other person reading this and still going to meetings) understand all the cards on the table if you are a LGBT member of this organization. True, No one can tell you to stay or leave...but as they say.... everything has a price!

I have no Real Friends!

i have no real friends!.

i have always been extremely active in every aspect of the org, since childhood.

My friend. i understand where you are right now as I am at the end of my fade. I also was very active in the congregation and had many "friends." Yes, right now we are both going through a major transition in our lives and this will no doubt bring some bumps along the way but eventually you and I will find true friends who will be their unconditionally. Even though i am a single man and come home to an empty house every night, I know that things will get better with time. if you live in the L.A area maybe we can meet sometime in the future. if not, feel free to pm.

As a gay man I was never given the option to have a soul mate in this bigoted organization (I was not going to ever marry a nice sister as an elder suggested when I told him that I was gay). After years of helping in both english and spanish congregations I am almost at the end of a fade though I am ready to DA myself if confronted by the elders (I do plan on having my first boyfriend by years end). I only have my mom and sister and they may continue to talk. I feel for all of you who do have a spouse in though.....

Thanks hardtobeme. Just pm me and lets get together, as well as any other gay man who was forced to live in the closet due to the closed minded people in our "spiritual paradise". Can't believe I dedicated so many good years to some men in brooklyn......

Well as someone who has been an MS in both English & Spanish congregations, I can honestly state that for the last 6 months I have been going to a gay club in the Los Angeles area every week and spend some time in the lap dance area with my very muscular and huge MAN dancer. I have come to the conclusion that No one in the kingdom hall pays my bills so they are entitled to Zero information about my personal life! Yes can you say it again....its a cult!!!

Good job my brother! It gives me much pleasure to see that the younger generations will not be "kept in the closet" to please a congregation like i had to do (I am now coming to terms with my sexuality at 38 years old and feel disgustedthat I wasted so many good years of my life). Keep up the good work!!
