Thanks for all the insightful comments. The slow growth in the Spanish Congregations is also a result of increased activity from some of the other religions; Evangelicals and even Catholics are attracting a lot of people to their Churches. The meetings are very simple and the dress code is normal attire, so it is very easy for a family to be attracted to those settings.

I believe every single word that you have written. I think that what you are calling superiority was nothing else that “machismo”. I wonder if those had the same attitude with the American elders or other male brothers in the English and as has been discussed in this thread the Spanish in position of authority could be as mean and nasty towards their “sheep” as anyone else.
Bottom line there is “something rotten in Denmark”.
Muchas Gracias

There was a Mexican American brother in the US Branch Committee and some very talented DOs have been transferred from the Spanish field to Bethel. I wouldn’t be surprised that one of them or a similar able brother is the Zone Overseer. Now call me a cynic but that doesn’t mean that much to me, we are living in a time of political correctness and affirmative action and every where there is the need for a “token”, even in the GB.
Having said that my focus is geared to what is happening in the field and in the Congregations, over there the Hispanics are a force; in reality a working force and nothing else.
Is a pleasure corresponding with you and I was going to say something about your initials but we are not much aquatinted and I don’t need any misunderstanding.

Probably that court case was the only thing that stopped the publications as their main source of revenue. To their infamous credit they discovered quickly other ways to milk the dubs.

Thanks for the assist.
The whole money grabbing mentality is the same; the only thing is that the means to do it are different, more sophisticated.

I am going way, way back. History reveals that in the beginning the WT was just a publishing house, selling books and magazines; over the years it evolved into what it is today.
The placement of the original publications was mostly done thru sales people masquerading as preachers. I don’t know the English name for them; in Spanish they were called “repartidores”. These workers were getting a commission out of selling or placing their inventory; they had an account with the Central Office and submitted a report on a weekly basis with their sales activity.
Later on during the Rutherford years this privilege was extended to the flock and the report slip became an integral part of the publisher’s life. For many years the most commented field in that report was the placement of books, subscriptions and magazines. As an incentive and with the excuse of covering cost there was a discount given to the publishers.
As an example, for many years:
Books: $00.50 to the public, $00.45 for the publisher and $00.10 for pioneers.
Magazines: $00.05 to the public, $00.04 for the publisher and $00.01 for pioneers.
There were also discounts in booklets and subscriptions. I hope that if I made a mistake with this figures some of the old timers will correct me.
The congregations and publishers had accounts where a record of their activity was kept including credit and how much they owed. If they were not careful and didn’t keep the accounts current, their supplies were cut off.
During so many years the main experiences at meetings and conventions were related to the placement of publications and some of the brothers were really proficient at this. It might not seem like a lot but for a regular or special pioneer placing a large amount of publications it was a very profitable deal.
All of this was changed over the years, due to the economy and Government regulations but for many years the business model of the Watchtower was that of a Publishing Company posing as a religion.
Excuse if this subject that has been treated before. I am new and I think that it might of interest to anyone who learned the “truth” in the last 20 years.
Thanks for reading.

Where the need is greater: TTATT in Spanish
by Londo111 init seems most of the us growth is in spanish-speaking territory, and of course, there is growth in the nations where spanish is the predominant language.
most sites oriented around ttatt, are english-speaking.
there seems then to be a great need for translators...for instance, imagine if there was a spanish version of www.jwfacts.com.. unfortunately, i dont speak this language.

Respectfully, I disagree with this comment about the equality of Hispanics in the WT.
The arrangement with the publications is more a function of better translation and technical systems than anything else.
Fred Franz was attending a Spanish Congregation in NY and it is possible that some GB members are doing the same today. I see this as a way for them to improve their language skills and nothing else; in general it doesn’t benefit the Spanish brothers.
The back of the bus comment was related to positions of authority, as stated before the Anglo will always be at front. This applies to Conventions, Assembly Halls, Kingdom Halls and any matter that requires organizing. It is obvious that the thinking that the Spanish are not good enough to lead still prevails.
I agree with something and that is the comment about the capitalistic mentality, but it should not co-exist with "brotherly love".
