Circuit Accounts Servants Confesses how the SCAM WORKS!!
by JT inyes, i too have wondered how an assembly that is held in a fully paid for assembly hall, with no food service, could possibly have $10,000 in expenses.
i suppose the bethel speakers have transportation expenses - maybe $1000 or so.
as for rent on the assembly hall, well you have already paid for it once, why pay again?

The Pagan Origins of the Memorial Observed by Jehovah’s Witnesses
by David_Jay in“we don’t celebrate holidays because god doesn’t approve of any celebration that is rooted in pagan customs and manmade traditions.” (see here for a similar jw response.).
if you were once an ex-jw like me, you have probably said something like this out in field service to someone who asked the question: why don’t you people celebrate holidays?
as the witnesses' official website states in an faq about not celebrating easter:.

I am sorry my friend but I can't understand your reaction, if you can't have an intelligent exchange and listen to a different point of view, then you are acting like a hardcore JW. Don't worry about a hijacking of your thread I am done.
Sayonara and sorry if I aggravated you.

Let me clarify that I am not defending anything, I am just trying to set the record straight as to JW beliefs. The outline of the Memorial talk shows that the JW version is that the Memorial is a separate celebration than the Passover and that it was instituted after that celebration; this is the direct quote:
Jesus instituted the Memorial of his death with those with whom he made a covenant for his heavenly Kingdom, the members of which are limited to 144,000 (Lu 22:28-30)
Once a year on the anniversary date.
This would also be consistent with the fact that the Lord’s Evening
Meal was instituted on the date of the Jewish Passover, a yearly celebration that no longer had to be kept by Jews who had become Christians. Reasoning page 268Going by your bullet 1 it seems that you agree with the idea that the Memorial as observed by the JW was a separate arrangement:
1. The Memorial/Lord's Supper/Eucharist was indeed instituted by Jesus.

If your are approach comes from the Jewish perspective I will guess that you are correct. The actual JW celebration is not based on such traditions, the actual celebration is "the Lords evening meal" and is presented as a date instituted at the time of the last meal. I don't think that is needed to go to times immemorial to search for the origin of the occasion, it is clearly understood that started with Christ and not before.

In all honesty I find the argument thin. The Jewish religion was Christ religion, and the fact that he said "keep doing this" validates the celebration.

1,000 Paid Russian Trolls Spread Fake News On Hillary Clinton, Senate Intelligence Heads Told
by Village Idiot injust when you thought you've heard it all, out comes some new information on the russian hijacking of our election.
former fbi agent clint watts testified about the full extent of russian interference.
it goes back further than we thought; more extensive and broader in its reach (marco rubio was in their sights); and with greater planning.. even russians who were in charge of this fake news operation have mysteriously died.. watts told the committee to “follow the dead bodies” to learn more, referring to several russians connected to kremlin fake news who have died in the past few months.. what else can we expect from such a murderous thug who expresses such gratitude to his own men?

Some names that come to my mind: Joe Biden, Jim Webb, Bernie Sanders, Jerry Brown and some others could have beaten Trump. However it was determined that it was going to be HRC, forgetting her baggage and deep resentment that many people have for her. A bad candidate selection opened the door for this defeat, the honchos at the DNC are the guilty party.

Election Post-Mortem
by Simon ini'm sure many people, republicans included, are shocked at the results of the 2016 presidential election.
really, wtf!.
the polls were wrong and although it's tempting to blame voter suppression and fbi interference, that would just avoid looking at the real issues for the loss.

Are congregations in Spain suffering an increase in banking fees since Watchtower 'seized' their bank savings?
by jwleaks inremember a few years ago watchtower literally 'siezed' all individual congregation bank savings around the world above what was needed to cover basic kingdom hall monthly expenses?
a new march 30, 2017, boe letter has just gone out to congregations in spain, which, more or less, explains that congregations bank account funds no longer entitle congregations to reduced banking fees.
(see copy of actual paragraph below.).

From what I can see and the current Watchtower practices I think that the Congregations are captives to one particular chosen by the Branch. Personally I don't see much of an issue with paying the monthly service fees after the cleaning of the congregation accounts by the Branch.
