Is there Racial harmony among the JWs?
by Amazing inwhen i joined the jws, racial issues were not really discussed much, other than some mention in the material given to me during my bible study in the "truth" book.
our kingdom hall had only one dark skinned individual, who is portguese, and one of the anointed.
i believe that he is now deceased.

I think that like in all segments of Society there is a certain degree of racism, and this goes both ways. The JWs are great at faking unity but there is a separtion undercurrent present.
In all honesty it seems to me that the bigger split is between the "haves and have not" regarding service privileges.

When selling was preaching ...
by Hecce ini am going way, way back.
history reveals that in the beginning the wt was just a publishing house, selling books and magazines; over the years it evolved into what it is today..
the placement of the original publications was mostly done thru sales people masquerading as preachers.

They were however, not unique to Charlie Russel's Bible students.
Frankly I don’t see anywhere in all the comments any reference as to this method being unique to CTR.
The WT is the one that for more than 100 years has represented that their way of selling is unique and that they are not selling but preaching. I am pretty sure that anyone who has been involved in field service knows that is one of the first lines that you will learn as a witness.
As to the other religions I don’t think that they are the subject of conversation and I for one couldn’t care less about all those groups.
For sure this material is slanted is about the WT and no one else.
My focus is the WT and their preaching-selling techniques.

Argentina was just added to the watch list.

Your are correct.
Comparing the list to the 2000 yb, I don't see listed: Antigua, Armenia, Belarus, Lithuania, Malta, Nepal, Sudan and Turkey. Maybe they were closed before that year, seem to remember Malta as a Branch.
Let me see if my compadre sheds more light in this issue.
Thanks

I don’t know if this is truth or not but I have been told that they were not so much afraid of the income tax but rather of the sales tax that was going to be due with the placements or sales.
If I recall correctly the whole thing started as a State case in California over sales taxes due on the publications.
I agree that they lost their main source of revenue due to this decision.
Just my recollection.
