It looks like this program will be implemented step by step in different areas, some friends in other parts of the City are not aware of these changes.

Norco was already there when Woodland Hills was sold, it was expanded and remodeled. Santa Clarita was supposed to be the replacement for WH but they ended building at Mira Loma, about 15 miles from Norco.
The brothers lost a lot with the sale of Leimert Park and Woodland Hills and there was a lot of chicanery in the process.

I feel uneasy about this urgent message, there is nothing in the Spanish Forum validating its veracity. I hope than someone will come forward and tell us if this legit or someone's prank.

Thanks, nothing new under this sun here.
I think the previous article doesn't mention the 30 million $$$$$ involved.
The parking was a bit of a problem, but it was centrally located. It was sold under the pretense that the 101 FWY was going to be expanded and that it was going to impact the property. That was not in the cards, there was an offer made for a piece of land in Santa Clarita, they put a $100,000.00 deposit without contingencies.
When the the soil analysis was done they discovered than the land was not suitable for an A Hall and they lost the money; the only satisfaction that they got out of that was firing the Realtor, a brother that was nicknamed Mr Magoo due to his resemblance.

Just a remembrance of the Woodland Hills, CA Assembly Hall. I am enclosing a partial copy of a Wikipedia article covering the purchase and subsequent sale of the facility by the JW. I am enclosing the link and please pay attention to the Bold portion of the document.
The theater project was backed by entertainers Bob Hope and Art Linkletter, along with Cy Warner.
The 2865-seat facility opened July 6, 1964 with The Sound of Music.[1] The first year saw the theater mount 18 musicals, three comedies, a drama, as well as concerts with a combined audience of over 600,000.
Among the performers who appeared at the Valley Music Theater wereSammy Davis Jr., Johnny Carson, Don Rickles, Woody Allen, Ray Charles,Art Linkletter, Robert Goulet, Mitzi Gaynor, Ike & Tina Turner, Peter, Paul & Mary, B.B. King, Lou Rawls, Three Dog Night, Jim Croce, and the Spiral Starecase. The Byrds, Buffalo Springfield, and The Doors appeared there together on February 22, 1967.[2]

By 1966 the theater began to fall on hard times.[3] Over the years, the fare changed from legitimate theater, to rock concerts, to boxing matches, until in 1980 it became a Jehovah's Witness Regional Assembly Hall. By 2004, the church had outgrown the facility and sold the property, which it had bought for $1 million, to the developer JPI for $30 million.

Your post is very well reasoned based in the information at hand, I am aware of more because of the Spanish Forum and I can tell you that Mr. Lopez is "a pain" for the elders and that they just want to get rid of him. If he wants to expand on details he can do it, but the elders are not following procedure by inviting him to a JC without going thru the previous step of the conversation with two elders.
Like I said I am pretty sure that he will explain their intent in more details.

Thanks for your input on this thread. What your describing will probably be repeated here, some KHs are left without an Spanish congregation and that will present a major headache for some that don't have transportation. They can't depend on buses because the schedules are very far apart and in some areas they run even less on Sundays.
Time will tell.

Easier to be a JW now?
by Xanthippe inreading konceptual's account of talking to cart 'witnesses' and it reminded me that when we left in '89 we thought the religion would do one of two things.
get more hardline, consequently lose members and eventually come to an end in some way.
or ease up on the members, fewer rules, less fs time, less meetings, just to keep them in.. all the recent apostate stuff, treatment of dfed kids and the hardline attitude to people who leave or try to fade has confused me, made me think they are harder on the r+f., but i don't think this is true.

The composition of the elders body will determine if you are going to have a good time or being required to fulfill your duties. My personal observation is that the elders themselves don't want to complicate their life and allow the flock to have it nice and easy.

The “boldness” of the GB
by Hecce inthis topic is related to the one about the relocation of publishers and moving and dissolving congregations.. some of the things that we are seeing now were unthinkable a few years back, examples the closing of the branches, layoff of bethelites and travelling overseers, the grabbing of the congregations funds and many more.
some of my friends tell me that basically the wt was operating with an early 20th century business model that needed a tune up and that worldly consultants are behind the changes that have been implemented.. nevertheless to put it in hollywood terms, they seem to think that they are on a “mission from god” and that they are “going where no man, has gone before”..

It is easy to be bold when there is no responsibility for your actions, the GB doesn't suffer for their mistakes and puts the reasons for the failures on the foot soldiers.
