Watchtower Annulled My Baptism

contrary to popular belief you can have your baptism annulled as i did by my local elders after my judicial hearing.. the watchtower of 1964 page 126 first paragraph clearly states that anyone that was committing a gross sin before, during and after their baptism is void.

in order to get right with the lord you would need to be re-baptised.

err no thanks, i'm not a believer!!!!.

The WTS is clamping down on people trying to claim that their baptism was invalid because of youth or other factors. Here's a paragraph from the new April 2017 Study Watchtower:

There is no way to undo a dedication vow, taking back what we promised God. If a person tires of serving Jehovah or of living a Christian way of life, he cannot claim that he was never really dedicated and that his baptism was invalid. To all intents and purposes, he presented himself as one who was wholly dedicated to God. He will be accountable before Jehovah and the congregation for any serious sins that he may commit. (Rom. 14:12)

Child abuse files. Request to return files before litigation

a group of former jw in spain has decided to request through law the return to any file regarding child abuse.

an official request has been sent today and a copy of this one has been copied to the ministry of justice and other government officials.. starting jan 16, we expect to get our request and receive the confidential files regarding our sexual abuse years ago.. we will keep you posted !.

2017 Yearbook released

overall the numbers are better than last year (1.8% growth compared to 1.5% last year -- as i predicted ;-) ) with an increase in all major figures including 1300 more congregations (i assume this is not physical kingdom halls?).

Excellent compilation of Yearbook numbers since 1981.

For 2016 USA shows an increase of about 3000 publishers, this is not realistic when you take into consideration the migration coming from Mexico, Central America and many other countries.

All Memorial Attendance Data from 1896 to 2016

i have made a spreadsheet of the reported number in attendance to the memorial since the first report of 13 people appeared in an 1896 watchtower.. since it can be very hard to find the numbers for the early years (anything previous to 1938), i will slowly make a note of where i found the data.some of the years i had to manually add hundreds of entries, since the wt did not provide the full number.i am building on the statistics of 1988-2013 that appeared here a while ago.soon i will be starting this but for other sets of data: # of publishers, hours, etc...here is the link: link.

yes, that's the rene that's mentioned in the franz's "crisis of conscience" i think i knew him better than he knew me, way back when.

i feel regret that i didn't approach him many years ago when i saw him on the street.

Mexico branch......Now closing!!!

a circuit overseer friend of mine serving in latin america called me today to say hi.

i asked him what's new and he dropped the news that they have received notification that the branch in mexico will be closing!!

this branch also called the central american branch (although located in mexico) oversees all of mexico's 800,000+ publishers plus all 7 countries of central america of over 100,000 publishers.

I agree that further verification is needed, if this is truth then the WT is going back to the original model for travelling overseers and is taking away the privileges and comforts attached to the position. They are going to do their work on a similar fashion to some third world countries.

Interesting subject, searching there bits and pieces of information about the major players in the purge; almost none about Rene Vazquez. I found a topic of 11 years ago on this matter and it seems that there was some background to what happened to him and that he was taking some license with his teachings prior to the incident.

Fidel Castro and the WT

i am going to engage on a trip to the past and share with you some of the matters that marked the beginning of the jws persecution in cuba.

you will be surprised that the pattern that was followed is very similar to what happened in other dictatorial countries.. in the cuban case, i am going to surprise you and tell you that like what happened with hitler; the wt was partially responsible for their clash and confrontation with the cuban government.

during the early 60s the revolution was fighting for survival and they were willing and ready to demolish any perceived enemy to their cause.. a prime example was their war against the catholic church that was the most influential religious entity in the country; it took the supreme leader only a few public discourses to send the vast majority of clergy packing and back to their country, in this case spain.. the jehovah’s witnesses were an insignificant minority but they over estimated their importance and displayed a belligerent attitude, it was known that this was a us based religion and an easy target to connect them with the cia.

Sisters running microphones?

so our sunday meeting was on the 25th (christmas) and my active jw wife and i were out of town enjoying some family time with relatives.. apparently there were many others in our congregation that missed as well.

so few were there in fact that sisters ran the mics.

(actually it was a sister running one of the two mics) a friend of my wife commented to her about how the brothers just aren't stepping up and it "makes her want to cry.

Way back in third world countries, sisters that were pioneers will go to places without a congregation; as soon as possible they will start a small group. They will conduct meetings and eventually do all the duties normally assigned to brothers, the only thing that they couldn't do was participate in judicial matters; this arrangement continued until they had baptized brothers qualified to take over.

It was common to have sisters in formal congregations doing the duties of assistants or MS; most of the time they did a better job that the brothers.
