I had the same thought today. Im watching and reading things on Sandy Hook, crying, heartbroken for these children and their familys. Everyone else.. same story. Not the DUBS though..no sympathy from them. They use these shootings as a way to place magazines... like these killings is god's will, anything to get the preaching done. Your probably going to start hearing alot of "experiences" on how new bible studys have been started, that something good can come out of this.

going back to the time you attended meetings (perhaps you still do), if you are the parent of adult jw children, did you feel there was entirely too much closeness and undue involvement with your offspring, especially if in the same congregation?
personally, i would want my children to interact with others and develop relationships outside my purview.
The KH I attended, there was my M-I-L and my grandmother. Those are the only witnesses in my family that are active. They have been in the same hall since the beginnning of time. I delt with alot of my family either venting or blabbing about our personal issues to others in the hall. Since gossiping is their favorite past time before you know it, everyone knows about every little argument, bowel movement, and itch you have. I finally got to the point that I straight up refused to attend meeting in the same hall as them. And if someone asked I told them the truth. I find it funny though, all of these issues especially with my mo in law had been the biggest factor in me searching for the TTATT. I wonder if she knew this, would she feel blood guilty??

the recent socal rain storms had me needing to go to a launrdomat to dry some clothes.
so i get inside and see that one of the friendly neighborhood jehovah's witnesses has left a little dish of spiritual food.
being the benevolent soul that i am, i took my handy pen and added some additional spice to the bland spiritual food offered by the watchtower.. .
I do this to my study article DURING the watchtower study. I do this during the public talk in my notes. I then show this to my husband, so he can hear the lies vs the truth first hand. Ive done alot of anti-witnessing work this way. Im pretty sure he's had an ephiphany or two during the public talk last week which was about prophecy and failed predictions.

this morning i went to the post office at 7:50am to pick up a package.
turns out the mail box section was open at 8am but the actual post office didn't open until 8:30am... rather than drive home and come back later i decided to get out my car and wait on a nearby park bench.
Ive had an elderly sister starting crying and freaking out on me that I am "leaving". I asked her what made her think that, "I am here now with you and I will forever be close as long as you let me" I reminded her that we talk every day, we go shopping and have lunch and do girl time constantly, so I wanted her to explain to me whys he thinks I am leaving her. She told me its because I havent been out in service and I havent been attending meetings. So I asked her why she thinks I am leaving her, I havent gone anywhere, Im still here and Im still me. She was clueless. They have to friendships outside of the borg, and the ones they do have arent good friendships. WHAT KIND OF FRIEND DROPS YOU ON A DIME LIKE THAT AND THEN TURNS IT AROUND ON YOU?
ITS NOT ME THAT WANTS TO END A FRIENDSHIP, its not me! Its you and your brainwashed mentality. So I ended up not talking to her anymore, I couldnt handle the guilt trips over stupid shit.

welcome, I hope that this site can help you get all the facts you need in order to make your decision to leave the WTS. If you doubt now, you doubt them in 10,20,30 years also. Dont continue to waste your life in a web of lies.
so i missed this letter below being read out last week - i got a look at it from the notice board this week.. from what i heard, this announcement was not received entirely positively as such, but there were apparently one or two for who this is a bit annoying.. staying at hotels for the district convention is nothing new here - many are used to staying at the same hotel/b&b/campsite every year, and get quite friendly with the owners.
but this year, it looks like not only do we have a new location for our district assembly (glasgow - the s.e.c.c.?
) but we are being told what hotel to stay at, supposedly to make things cheaper.. what i can't understand is, if this is really for the benefit of people, why didn't they do this years ago?
I remember about 8 years ago (give or take) we used to have AWESOME HOTELS on our list. I mean full breakfasts with bacon, eggs, pancakes. Nice swimming pools, suits, tennis courts, hot tubs, THE WORKS. I never booked these rooms because I was a teenager and had to stay with family.
So this year before booking my room I checked out each hotel on trip advisor before calling any of them. Most the rooms, according to trip advisor, had meager breakfasts available (toast and bagels) no swimming pool, and in the seedy part of town. I thought to myself I can deal with that, so i call to make reservations and all of them were booked. The list came out that very week how can they already be booked? Of course we all know that certian people get to look at that list before the congregation and then they make arrangements for their whole famn Damily and friends. There was one hotel that I did not call, its price was lower then all the others so i thought this place must be a whole in the wall dump.Boy did I get that wrong. I checked with trip advisor of course and ALL THE REVIEWS, not one or 2 or a couple 10 years ago, I mean ALL THE REVIEWS EVER for this hotel was "ladys of the night frequent here" and "drug deals went down". This place was ghetto central. I also checked yahoo travel to verify some of these reviews, they too said very simular things. Bad housekeeping, no hot water, gun shots were heard at night, dead bodys found. I told myself I better book a room with them just in case, I need to do what the society tells me to do, Im sure its different now, their website made it look quaint and charming and they were under new ownership. So I called and made the reservation, the woman didnt take any information from me except my name address and phone number. That was weird I thought to myself.
That was when I decided to start calling a hotel I have always stayed at and BEGGED them for a room. I played up our loyalty to this hotel chain, and how I have stayed with them for many many years. I told them how this other hotel that was available was a seedy place full over addicts and hookers and if we stayed there Im sure I would get murdered. Ok I was being a bit dramatic, but I did not want to stay at this place.Why would the society even have us stay there? We used to have KILLER rooms on the list and now they are all dives except for one or two of them.
It all ended up working out for us, after a couple months on a "waiting list", they gave us a suit at the top, not in the JW block, with the same price as a jw block rate. A couple of people in our hall stayed at the seedy hotel and confirmed everything the reviews mentioned. When I told them we were going to stay there until i read the reviews then begged another hotel manager to put us on the list, they chastized us for it! They said I was not obeying the organization or god. They were just jealous that they got stuck in a crap hole.
It does make me wonder, why wont these hotels allow the society to make arrangements with them anymore? Did they screw em over? The WTS said its because people call and make reservations and dont show up or overbook. So its our fault?
hubby and i (faders) were in the supermarket today.
we had just avoided and completely ignored an elder and his wife when we saw a newly married couple who were both recently disfellowshipped, of course being the rebels we are we made a bee line for them.
the df man was until recently a workmate of my hubby so they quickly got into an animated discussion and i met the new wife who seemed nice but let me know they were getting reinstated asap.
I had a friend who got DF'd for pretty much the same deal. The elders had forbidden her to be with someone, so they ran off and got hitched.
Well, according to her family she has rigoriously been attending meetings and working on "coming back". it kills me when they kick you out, then tell
people you left. So this has been about 1.5 years ago this happened. I am convinced she is telling her family she is walking the walking so they will stay off her back. She lives out of state, so they only get to talk to her. This is an ideal situation for her and him, they travel for work, they would be hard to follow.
She had told her mummy that she has applied for reinstatement 2 times, and if it doesnt happen the third time she wont "come back". I am very sckeptical that she had any intentions on being a witness. I remember her once telling me how she hasnt been sleeping because she was "up all night doing research".I would like to know what is so interesting in the watchtower society's literature someone wouldnt spend 8+ hours researching? I think she finally figured it out and did what we all did, verify references, check sources and educating ourselves on TTATT.
I totally commend those who will straight out lie to others in order to preserve themselves. All Im saying is that we arent the only ones who "save face".
