  Wanna hear something funny?

  After the 2011 convention, when I was still a gung-ho witness, I had mentioned out in service how exciting it is that the society had changed their previous idea of the toes, heel, foot of the statue. I can't remember word for word what I said, but I am pretty sure it would have been taken as a dig on the GB and their new lite because after I said that comment, you could hear crickets and the sisters were all looking at eachother bug eyed. Ive been thinking about that day alot lately and it made me wonder this: a. I had sounded like an apostate making fun of their ever changing doctrine or b. These ladies didn't believe the crap spewed out at the DC. Or maybe they had no idea what I was talking about. I always look for signs of dissidence when chatting with witnesses about new light. I even got two "annointed" to admit their annoyance about the new light, I shouldnt have done this in a group setting because I am sure I am marked as a possible apostate.

  If I remember correctly the ten toes is the statue of the man in Daniel's prophecy made of copper, bronze gold, ect. It's suppose to represent the different kings that had come into power and the society had always said that we are at the feet until a couple years ago the decided we are actually at the toes of this statue which means the end is even closer than we imagine. I may have the details wrong but thats the gist of it.

  Do other churches use the name Jehovah?

  i have seen on this site recordings of jw elders at tribunal meetings claim other churches hate the name jehovah.

  one former baptist now jw elder said other churches hate the name and never use it.

  please look at the following and there are many more hymns not included than these.

  I have been secretly attending christ the King church and they use the Jehovah in sermons and in their songs. I also have the bible app on my iphone and the american standard version also uses Jehovah. I think the reason why alot of churchs avoides the name Jehovah is because it leaves a sour, cultish taste in peoples mouth. When using that name, instead of drawing attention only to God, it draws attention to the witnesses and not in a good way

  I found out a JW friend of mine has an addiction to torturing animals!

  last night i found out a close jw friend of mine takes delight in watching animal torture.

  i am an animal lover, and i dont know what to think.

  i dont want to end our friendship because this friend has been very accepting of me.

  My thoughts on the 2013 Memorial

  i went to what i hope will be my last memorial last night, and my thoughts are similiar to what many have expressed here already but here is what i took away.

  i can tell from previous reviews that all the speakers seem to be sticking pretty close to the outline, so it dosent matter much who gives it, you cant diverge from what "mother" says.. 1. no time was given to really appreciate the suffering jesus endured all for the sake of forgiving our sins.. 2. all thanks was given to jehovah for jesus sacrifice.

  while i apprecite what the father went through here, on the memorial of christs death, shouldnt the appreciation and honor be given directly to him?.

  In the hall I am forced to attend, the elder talked alot about what the witnesses are doing around the world this memorial and the sacrifices they have made over the years and how in many lands the preaching work and witnesses are banned and prosecuted. All of the attention was witnesses, GB and Jehover. We didn't even read the account about jesus's death or the passover.. nada.. it was referenced but he told us to not turn there.

  On another note:

  My husband on the way there (we were late, he was mad) fumed how because of me we probably wont be able to find seats because it will be so packed, and we will have to park down the street. When we got there only 40% of the parking lot was full and when we got inside there may have been 50-60 people max. I explained to my husband that this religion is out the door dying and that they shouldn't even bother passing out invitations door to door since nobody EVER comes to it. It's a waste of time, paper, gas, energy, ect. He had no comment on these things since he saw what little attendace there was.

  He mentioned to me when we got home that he over heard someone saying that there was 100 people at the memorial, "my ass 100 people were there, it was empty" I was so proud at that moment; he noticed the cognitive dissonance, even though he doesn't know what that term means.

  New Light(TM) is it to keep the JWs interested?

  there always seems to be some new light(tm) trotted out at the long snorefest a$$embies.. do they do it to keep the r&f interested?.

  feel a smug arrogance of being not only in a ''progressive organization(tm)'' but knowing something the ''world(tm)'' doesn't?.

  do it for legal reasons to protect the 8 paedophile loving men in brooklyn?.
