by oompa ini was told today by a heavyweight elders wife, both of whom were at bethel for many years and are very well connected to the brooklyn brass, that all brooklyn bethel operations will be moved to wallkill and patterson.
in fact, there is a very exclusive walk-through next week for some of the top real estate investors/developers who will see all the properties, starting with the sands, and its lobby has now been remodeled to look just like a high-end hotel..................just fyi.................................oompa

is there plan to sell all and move out"?.
he said: "brother these are truly the last of minutes, and day there might not even be any bethel in us...... the persecution is going to be so extreme that bethel might be in...... rome, islands, or bla bla".

As I posted on Scully's thread about this book, I am listening to the podcasts on Oprah's site. I am LOVING it and growing as a person from what I'm reading. I feel that it has opened my eyes and I will never look at life or myself in the same way ever again.

A New Earth by Eckhart Tolle - has anyone read it?

being ever-the-skeptic, i'm intrigued by a philosophy that appears to embrace reality and the here-and-now, but i'm wary of the new-age-y-sounding-ness of it as well.
what do "believers" think of the book?

Scully, I was going to post a thread about this book this morning, but, decided to search and see if anyone else had started a thread first...........glad I did..........I HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who wants to get to the heart of what life is all about.. For me, it has been a HUGE eyeopener........the third chapter on the EGO has explained sooo much of why I act the way I do, why we, as a human race, react and act towards one another. My understanding is that ego is based in fear. It arises by identification with form, and deep down it knows that no forms are permanent, that they are all fleeting. So, there is always a sense of insecurity around the ego even if on the outside it appears confident. WE are NOT our EGO. Our ego is a false construct/facade of who we really are. It is the incessant stream of involuntary and compulsive thinking and the emotions that accompany it. This is the egoic mind. Some of the subheadings in this chapter are:
Complaining and Resentment
Reactivity and Grievances
Being Right, Making Wrong
In Defense of an Illusion
Truth: Relative or Absolute?
War Is a Mind Set
Do You Want Peace or Drama?
Beyond Ego: Your True Identity
The Ego's Need To Feel Superior
Ego and Fame
Once we become aware, conscious that we are NOT our ego, and others are not theirs, we can learn to step back and laugh at the games that it plays to keep it's power. Then, we don't personalize the games and we come from our true self, which is interconnected with all other things, which are rooted in LOVE.
My girlfriend, who is also an X-JW and I get together once a week to listen to the Skype broadcast with Oprah and Eckhart's discussion online............it is awesome.........the first week there were over 500,000 people online joining in the discussion. Of great importance to me is the fact that one of the things that was stated at the very first program was that Mr. Tolle has NO wish to be anyone's guru. He said that the book wanted to be written and that it is up to each of us to decide what we want to do with the information. When I first bought the book and looked at it, of course there were triggers........A New Earth.........yes, we heard this as JW's. Yes, he got the phrase from the Bible, but, he is NOT a christian or any other faith. He believes that ALL faiths have the ability to lead us deeper to connect with Source. He warns about labeling, asking: "Do you believe some combination of such basic sounds could ever explain who you are, or the ultimate purpose of the universe, or even what a tree or stone is in its depth?" How profound. So, in my opinion, I say feel free to explore this book with an open mind, without fear. This is just a small fraction of the awesome wisdom I have already gained in a very short time...........but, this is MY experience.

What's with Ex-Jw's who join another religion? Fool me Twice????
by Witness 007 insorry no offense but why do some ex-witnesses here join another group....we have a muslim {muhamed was given a koran by an angel in a cave?
}....we have some baptists etc......i researched the bible and found there are 1,000's of gospels not part of the bible...so what's the deal...."fool me once shame on you..fool me twice shame on me" or do you have a reason for continued belief in religion...i really wan't to know since iam agnostic and don't believe in god or evolution????

Back in the early '90's, when I was still a "faithful" witness, my THEN husband had to have open heart surgery. They used probably most of these procedures on him..........in fact, when I walked into the critical care ward I saw a bag of blood hanging over his head, and my immediate reaction was "what the hell is that doing there???" well, apparently, it WAS acceptable practice, according to the Liaison committee, because a jw friend/elder immediately contacted them and it was A-OK.........for me, it was another small earthquake that would provide my awakening to the BS that the WTS was capable of........the '95 date change was another such moment............I left in '97/'98 and have never set foot again in a KH.......

I recently read this and i always felt that your aptitude would naturally lead you to your life's work..........please feel free to share your views, comments, experience...........When we have found our path, we naturally want to start to walk down it. The reverse isn't true despite what we may believe. It is quite futile to learn how to walk when you don't know which path to walk upon. This may seem a little obtuse to grasp and yet it is true. It is desire that creates aptitude and not the reverse.
