JV.............run, run, run, while you still have a chance...............your mom is an adult. Just because she chose it, does not mean you have to. I was 14 when I listened to my mom and got sucked in by those people..............please, spare yourself the pain of wasted years............I was in track and had to quit when I started studying.............run, run, run! They will make you miserable.............their belief system is soooo limiting..................90% of JW kids end up leaving.........it's a cult...........it will be easier to have the discussion with your mom now and tell her that you have your own life to live.....get it over now, don't waste your life with these people.

Bohemian!!!! Welcome to this Group!!! By posting on it, I feel you've made the move to join us............and I am very happy to welcome you as one of us.............and I'm sure the others are too! This can be your sanctuary to heal and find out what your options are................I joined an Ex-JW Women's group after I left............just reading the posts week by week helped me to work things out in my mind.............don't be in any rush to go somewhere else.........just concentrate on healing the wounds that the WTS has left..............most of them are mental and emotional................meanwhile, anyone on here can answer specific questions that you might have........you'll find most of us have gone thru what you have............I myself wanted to die those last few months I was in............and I've lost contact with my sister and her family............my mom still talks to me tho................we are all very supportive of one another, and have formed a family for ourselves!
Hugs,
Terri

I know I already responded once, but I had to share a couple of points I thought of............first of all, none of my former friends ever contacted me, once I got DF'd..........but, I think it's because my mom was still going to meetings and the ones who really cared about me asked her how I was doing and she told them that I've never been happier..........that I was doing well, had a good job and was even dating now and then............also, since I work in town, I see the Dubs from time to time doing street work, I've also chatted with a few who call for their children or grandchildren for busing to and from school..........even the bus company that we employ for the kids has Dubs working as drivers..........so, they all hear my voice and I'm happy and friendly with everyone.........and I do not hesitate to tell them what I think if they ask.................and there are Dubs and X-Dubs who work for the school system who see me at the Union meetings or talk to me on the phone..............I am still a bit of a presence in their life (snickers) I'm proof that you can leave and be much happier and successful out than in.............they all knew that I suffered from severe depression for years and was not a happy person.........now I am..................DUH............I wonder what caused the change?????????

Do You Think We Are Hurting The Organization By What We Do Here?

i wonder if we are making a real difference here.

I think this site is a light in the darkness for people who are still in the borg, but who have serious doubts about it. Just reading how some of the new ones have found us on the internet and then lurked for awhile testing the waters to see what us terrible "apostates" are all about..........I think this site is saving lives!

WT: Three ways a woman can improve her lot
by Sirona inthis is on the watchtower's website.
there seems to be a lot more articles aimed at africa and other places where this advice might be useful, but do they honestly give this sort of stuff out in us and uk?.
three ways a woman can improve her lot.

I remember reading articles in the Awake that were definitely aimed at third world countries............and I'm thinking that if the WTS was an NGO for the UN, then having these articles and citing the UN booklet would bring them into compliance with the requirements..............I know these articles are composed and written up a few months in advance.............but, definitely I've seen them in Awake, before I left the Borg in '99. One of the things I was interested in when I did a tour of Bethel one time was that they do make minor changes in the magazines from country to country..........for instance, in Africa, they do put Africans on the cover..........because they know that people there do not want a "white" magazine................sometimes the articles are different, also, I know that especially the KM's are country specific as they all have their own issues and differences of policy..............

Are you a people person or a loner?
by Strawberryfieldsforever ini've heard that there are people who thrive on being with people.
they gain energy from it.
then there are the loners who gain energy from being alone.
-
Sunnygal41
I run in cycles.........but, for the most part I'm pretty much of a loner......sometimes I wonder if something is wrong with me...........alone I can read or just sit and think or flip channels on the TV or do a project or go on the computer.........and chat to JWD....you guys are my life line, you keep me from feeling totally out of touch.............like tonite...........boyfriend wants to go the local sports bar, I'm home..........don't wanna be around all the people and the noise and the inanity of it all.............

Let's see........let's start my most embarrassing moments door to door at age 16, with the very old, presiding overseer in my congregation............we are working a very rural, country area, and getting no knock on the front door the brother decides to go to the side...which is screened in pool area............(I'm already dying of nervousness) and this woman, nekked as a jay bird comes over and tells us to bug off!

Money and career tips for EX-JWs....
by logansrun init's a safe bet that if you were raised as a jw, or if you came into it early in life, you have some strange ideas about money and finances.
the wt for decades made even minimal post-secondary education utterly taboo and only recently has capitulated that "some" extra schooling might be neccessary (associate degrees good, bachelors degrees bad).
the average youth raised a jw has little understanding of investment due to the apocalyptic worldview of the organization (why invest in a dying system when the big "a" is right around the corner?).

Hmmm, interesting thread, Brad..........I have worked for the Board of Education in a town close to where I reside for 4 years now......it is the most boring job I've ever held along with being the most lucrative..............I earn $35,000/yr. along with pretty good health benefits........I get 3 weeks vacation and 5 personal days along with every major Federal holiday off.............for instance I will get Friday thru Monday off for Presiden'ts Day........I don't have to be back to work til Tuesday................yet, I am bored to tears.......and, because of my divorce and other things, this will be the first year I have had any kind of savings account.........the desire is incredibly strong right now, for me to save as much money as possible..................wow!
