There's about 70 COs and about 7 DOs if i recall correctly. i dont know how many french COs there are, nor do i know any. for foreign language COs, i know theres 1 chinese CO who has to travel across Canada to visit all chinese congregations, but i dunno his name. i also dunno if there are other foreign language COs.

the dumbest thing a CO ever said
by nowwhat? in"if it was'nt for the preaching work there would be millions more witnesses" - he was saying jehovah wants quality not quantity.. si i'm thinking, what's the difference as long as he has a people that live by bible standards and are moral.
maybe sharing their hope and faith with friends and relatives on a casual basis?
how backwards is that?.

@NVR2L8: wayne johnson is still a D.O. as of 2011 when i last saw him, i assume he still is today. he's mid 70's to late 70's now though, and i also heard he either suffered a serious health issue or a severe mental breakdown, supposedly due to him being so serious or stressed (blood pressure maybe? stroke? i dunno). and yes he is a bully, ALL elders i knew were scared of him and knew that if he wanted to talk to somebody, that person was in trouble. sure is imitating christ's loving example, isn't he?

The End of Circuit Overseers
by scotsman inis indeed apparently nigh as another poster predicted along with the end of the weekly bs.
not sure when this should take place but i'm reliably informed by a family member that one of the uk's overseers was talking about it fairly recently.
reduced to weekend visits by an outside but local elder instead.. i have no further info..

I heard this in bethel in the late 2000's as well, but only one person mentioned it to me and he didnt want to talk about it any further and made it seem like nobody was to know about it. i was actually surpised he mentioned this to me, because i read about it here before going to bethel. if i recall correctly, all these elder schools were to train elders to basically be like C.O.'s in their own congregations, though an elder was still expected to visit congregations in his city or something like that. almost 5 years later and it hasnt happened yet, makes me think it was only in consideration or just a rumour that some guys thought was true.
if it doesn't happen with the next C.O. switch (September 2014 in Canada) then i doubt it will ever happen.

So, No Evidence For Solomon... How About The Other OT Superstars?
by Room 215 inso, as we've seen, there is no independent, epigraphical extra-biblical evidence from archeology for solomon; then what about joshua, samuel, joseph, samson, etc., etc.

I always wondered about the prophets isaiah, jeremiah, and the minor ones... why arent they written anywhere if they spoke of prophecies that came true (e.g. nineveh destruction)? from what god told them to say, they woulkd have to stand in a city center and speak for like 10 hours straight, surely that would be a feat in itself in their day?

thank you very much, was hoping i would see the list at my meeting but i guess they'll announce it next week.
for canadians, from what i can tell they got rid of the arena in selkirk, manitoba, which was being used by the jw's for over 10 years now, so i am very suprised to see it gone. that place was a shithole though, a.c. never worked when it was over 35 degrees outside, the parking lot was clay so it was one big dust bowl when dry and one huge mud puddle when wet, very cheap plastic seats. i figure they paid like $200 to rent the thing it was such a piece of shit.
im trying to find last years list to see what else was changed.

my parents were VERY lax so i had it easy and am very thankful for that. always went to "worldly" freinds' houses and played video games (including halo when it came out ), wasnt pressured to get baptized/comment at meetings/reach out (plus my dad was never an ms or elder despite 20+ years in da troof), never had family studies. never forced out in service, only got 1/2 hours a month. plus when i turned 18 there were no rules haha but i was still expected to "please jehovah". i realize i am very privileged in this, because i know lots of elders kids that were always being forced to do stuff they hated and were out in service every single saturday of their life, while i got to play games and watch tv most saturday mornings. plus the parties werent all bad.
however my biggest regrets/sad memories are slacking off in high school (because i had no intention of college and was gonna pioneer) and pioneering, which i wasted 4 years of my life doing. and not being able to join "competitive sports" when all my friends in school were on the same soccer team and kept asking me to join; all i could say was "my religion wont let me".

@blondie: I have no idea why its at the end of the year/beginning of next year in Canada. one theory i have made myself is that its to "encourage" the pioneers because they only have to be out for about 6 hours during those two weeks, which are pretty cold during that time of year (Especially january), so they get to stay inside during that time instead. also, its easier to take time off during this time with christmas/new years.
for eligibility, you still need 1 year experience befor being invited, but i believe if you start in january you might still be eligible. so you need to start before or during January 2013 to be eligible for December 2013/January 2014 school, before or during January 2014 for December 2014/JAnuary 2015, etc. so those who start in february have the longest wait.

August in the U.S., end of December/beginning of January in Canada. All Pioneer schools start today in Canada.
pretty sure you can get the book they study if you search around the net for it.
