I would go back to my 16-year-old self. I would tell myself to not get baptized, instead, focus on getting good grades at school, get a job immediately like at McDonald's or Tim's, stick with that job all the way through high school, keep up with your French, take a year off after graduating and work full time to build up some money, then move to the capital for college, finish college in 2-years and get your federal job. Do not get baptized, do not pioneer, do not go to bethel.

All Day K.H. Maintenance Meeting !!!!
by Poztate inthe whole congregation was required to sign up for this all day program.what are they going to talk about for the full day.
maybe a one hour talk by an elder about "responsible toilet cleaning in this time of the end" with demos as how it can be accomplished.
only sisters seem to need to listen to that one.. maybe cutting grass to the proper height so we don't bring reproach on jehovah's name.

This is happening in my area too here in Canada. There's a term for it but I forget what it's called. Congregations will now be responsible for the maintenance of their kingdom halls, and I mean maintenance, not just cleaning. Members will be trained on various things, including maintenance of the equipment (such as the lawn mowers, some are taken completely apart and shown how to reassemble and fix issues on the mower) and even some plumbing and electrical. There's a lot that is taught, or so I've been told. My hall hasn't had it yet.

What crime should elders report?
by kramer inso, i am trying to get my head around what the right position of elders should be when they come across crime is.. i think i get the issuess around clergy confidentiality - and how that might potentially be breached when they talk about it to other elders, let alone the police.. but if people are saying that elders - or clergy of another faith should report crime to the police when it is confessed to the, then where are the boundaries.. so if someone says they should report to police on a confessed example of child abuse, that's one thing.. how about reporting to police consensual sex between a 19year old and 15 year old - which is statutory rape in the uk.
how about criminal fraud if they come across it.
assault on a congregant?.

If a JW came up to an elder and told the elder they killed someone 20 years ago and nobody found out about it, would the elder report it to the police? Or would he call the Legal Department first?
What if a JW told an elder he abused a kid 20 years ago and never told anyone about it before? Would the elder report it to the police or call the Legal Department?
I think we know the answer.

this thread just made me realize the Revelation Book, Daniel's Prophecy book, and Isaiah's Prophecy books are all not available on jw.org or JW Library. i actually think that's pretty funny, these were huge prophecy books that are a huge part of the teachings of JW's and we kept studying these books in the book study and now they're basically sent to the backroom to be forgotten about.

Bethel outing :)
by sp74bb inby reliable sources, bethel us has recorded in 3 years:.
- 80 "out of the closet" confirmed.
- 200 departures requested by bethelites, where same reason is suspected.. - 20 censured ones "returning to the flock".

When i was at Wallkill like 6 years ago, Max Larson had the morning worship and it was about uncleanliness. He went on a long rant about pornography and said the US Branch Committee deals with 2 cases of someone caught viewing internet pornography at Bethel every week, and they were almost always dismissed, so that's about 104 people a year kicked out due to porn.

NEW BLOOD CARD w/ FORCED COMPLIANCE also LEGALISM
by apocalypse ini have looked around and i don't see this covered, so i am starting a thread.. 1) the new "blood card" goes beyond being just a "blood card".. 2) a new edict concerning compliance.. pay attention to the changes.. first, the new card is termed "advance decision to refuse specified medical treatment".
the big change with the card itself is that it includes an 'override' of your "power of attorney".
this is huge.

Jehovah's Witness Church Release Statement
by truthseekeriam in"we are saddened to hear about the death of prince rogers nelson, who was baptized as one of jehovah’s witnesses in 2003," the church said in a statement obtained by people.
the church said that prince "found fulfillment as a witness and in sharing his faith with others.

Even in the 80's, Prince was giving away his money, according to this article with Rolling Stone in 1985 where he said "Money is best spent on someone who needs it... I give a lot of things away, a lot of presents and money."
I am thinking that yes, he must have regularly donated to the Society, especially if he believed his donations were truly helping others (e.g. disaster relief).

Prince could potentially have a JW funeral
by StarTrekAngel inthe question is, are there two credible witnesses to the allegations of overdose?
if i understand correctly from the research into child abuse, the medical diagnosis would not count as a witness.. was he baptized?
what year?.
-
Richard_I
@Athanasius: Can you image Anthony Morris giving the funeral talk? There would be a huge shitstorm. Prince is 100% the opposite of what Morris considers a JW. I don't think Morris could even handle saying Prince's name for fear of tight pants appearing in his mind. -

Proclaimers Book claims anyone can leave the org
by Sanchy inwas going through proclaimers book and found this little nugget on page 232. there is so much wrong with this paragraph that my head almost exploded when i read it.. however, i was thinking, perhaps those like me that are trying to fade away without "trouble", can use this in the case that an elder should start questioning with intent of escalating matters.

This reminds me of how some Witnesses say (in the ministry for example) "Jehovah's Witnesses don't force anyone to become one of them", which I have heard CO's say as well. But we all know that's bullshit and the second someone tells a JW that they don't want to be a JW but just want to learn more about the bible, they will be dropped as a study. There are so many things that are hidden lies in the org. -

There seems to be many jw's marrying outside of org recently.
by atomant inl was wondering if others have noticed this or is just my imagination?my sister whom has always been a fine example of a dub just got married to an outsider was a shock to everyone as no one knew she was dating an outsider.she seems happy.the elders are to shit scared of her to approach her about the matter.

IMO it's been like this for the last 20+ years. Even as a teenager in the 2000s during conventions I can remember looking from the stands down to the ice level of the arena and seeing so many hot young girls with their babies/young kids walking around and no sight of a husband, not even sitting beside a man but instead sitting with their parents. I remember even my parents commenting on this. I sit as high up as I can now and sleep during the conventions but I assume it's still the same.
