  Are we all bitter?

  i posted a link on fb that lead to a topic here.

  i then had one of my 'friends' start having a go about how bitter everyone is here....fact he said.

  (he used to be a jw elder but left a while back, not sure why he left or if he has even researched the faith since leaving) the more i tried to reason with him that actually it is a support forum, the more he lashed out that everyone here bad mouths the jw's and only attack the jw's.

  I think the forum is well balanced. There is a definite bitter finish, but I think that is to be expected.

  The bitterness here is pretty rounded. Striaght away I like how seriously fruity the aroma is, think tropical stone fruit or candied pineapple. Then I am hit by sweet malts and caramel upfront, with some toffee and biscuit notes. The finish is a nice orange peel like bitterness. The bitterness is there as it should be, but it is not definitely not harsh, and it is balanced out well by the intial sweetness. All in all a great profile.

  I am just glad I woke up now at 28 rather than 58 or something. I do feel for those that spent the majority of their lives in the religion. Their bitterness is to be expected, but it never dominates the overall supportive and positive feel of this site IMO.

  i saw them coming down the street...the excitment grew.....then 2 people walked up to my door.... .

  one could hardly speak english...struggling to invite me to the memorial....i said "why should i go".

  they told me ...bec jesus died for everyone just one day a year is very important.... .

  Sounds like she was excited just to hear that you researched some JW info online, and she feels that soon you will realize that your research leaves no other option except that the JWs have the truth. Any honest examination of her religion will prove it to be the truth, and you are on the way to discovering this.

  You are so close to the truth, you are searching for it, and your almost in it.

  Reading that has made my day. Bring on the bad publicity.

  How the hell can Vincent Toole say that shunning is a 'myth'. So I can tell the elders tomorrow that I don't believe the religion anymore, and my life and friendships with my JW family and friends continue as normal??! More lies from the WTS. I will quote Vincent to the elders and my family when I finally give up pretending and quit this religion.

  i'm only going to the meeting because of my husband!

  i was 'in' solo for years while living with my unbelieving family and i know how it feels to be the only one in your house going to the meeting.

  i also respect my husband's decision, and know what it's like to have family try to tear down your beliefs.

  Did you clean the hidden corners of your kitchen before you went to the meeting, to ensure that they are clean and sanitary? That is what house wives do. I learned that from the Jeremiah book this week. What a brilliant illustration from the 'Celebrated Watchtower Scholars'.

  I know exactly how you feel, I still have to attend meetings, but I stopped preaching.

  Does anybody know how they elect new Governing Body members?

  now that "habemus papam", i was wondering how it is that someone in the watchtower becomes a member of the governing body.

  does anybody know?.

  and, how do they choose who gets to be a member of the corporations?.

  You would have to kiss a lot of ______ or suck a lot of ______ to climb that ladder I would imagine. But it is worth it in the end, because you get to have conversations with Jehovah about policy and procedure.

  You will be disfellowshipped if you continue to associate with a disfellowshipped person after you have been warned not to. This is the procedure that is outlined in the Shepard the Flock Cult Manual. Someone here might expand, maybe some ex elders here have had some experience.
