  for people who have a paralyzing fear of dying, to where it seems like it's this horrible, stalking monster, jwism is a powerful sedative.. but really, the idea of living forever, in human form, is nonsense.

  living forever isn't about living forever, it's about not dying.. death is natural.

  it can be painful, sudden, or both.

  I feel life is so much more precious now that I understand there is no paradise, no resurrection or living forever. When someone dies young I really see it as a tragedy, where as before with the jw outlook, I just thought the resurrection has it all covered.

  I can relate to what your saying though. But for me now, I think if we can live to an old age after watching our kids grow up and maybe even there kids, we have lived pretty well and couldn't ask for much more. Something will get us all one day, it's just a matter of what and when.

  I really beleive that teaching kids they will never grow old and die, is extremely cruel and unhealthy. It is just as bad as teaching the child that they will be destroyed at Armaggeddon if they don't love Jehovah.

  good morning folks!

  i have believed in the 1914 jw core teaching for more than 20 years.

  but now, after seeing much about this date, i find it uncomfortable and odd to believe it unquestionably, much less defend it against opposing thoughts.

  I think it stems from the false date setting that the bible students and other religious nutters were doing 200 years ago.

  Predict a date for Jesus return.... Doesn't happen, so then they just say he did come....... Invisibly.

  This was the pattern for 1799, 1874, 1878, 1914, 1925...... The only reason they stuck with 1914 is because when WWI started, they had something significant that year, the other dates just got thrown to the scrap heap.

  In conclusion, the 1914/Jesus enthronement is a load of crap.

  A few of my family and friends are really trying to get me to this meeting tomorrow.

  In Australia the meeting is 3 hours long and many congregations will have projectors set up to display it on.

  I am curious, but there is no way I will be attending. I have not been witnessing in 12 months and have not been to a meeting since March.

  I know Paul is not a witness, and he said he was there for more than 10 minutes, but what makes them say he was interested in the publications?

  From all the discussion on that thread it was made clear that the literature was viewed as worthless trash and should be treated as such. He is also not just a 'non witness' according to JWs, but the worst type of human alive, a raging, mentally diseased, foaming at the mouth apostate.

  Turns out the ministry of JWfacts is actually more effective than those shitty little carts....

  Which country is better to migrate Canada or Australia?

  i am sure nowhere is perfect but if we want to compare these two countries from different prospectives like racism, job, income/spending, quality of life, standard of living etc.

  can you please give me a rough idea by sharing your experiences.. .

  by the way, i am considering applying for a masters progrmme in any of the two countries.. .

  the essence of the christian congregation was the enlightenment of society by preaching (refer to jesus words 'you are the light') and the beautifying of society by acts of love, helpage that have positive impact on peoples lives (see good samaritan or james' words of the faith without action is dead).

  why is the wts obstined at not doings acts of helpage?

  even those within the congration especially in africa, no corporate social responsibility.

  it was a perfect spring day, and a jazz band were playing in the mall near my work.

  in front of the band, two watchtower literature carts stood in solidarity.

  i could not work out who were the jws attending them.
