Midweek meeting video
by aboveusonlysky indid anybody see the service meeting video this week?.
australian sister was sexually abused as a child and thought of ending her life at 14 years old, sometime later jw's call on her father who accepts a study and eventually the whole family becomes witnesses, life gets much better as the sister immerses herself in pioneering etc, she still has some dark days but prayer along with going for walks and swimming has helped her cope with bad memories of child abuse, the new system (just around the corner) will completely fix everything......... i'm dumbfounded, the hypocrisy has literally rendered me speechless......comments anybody?.

The Royal commission in Australia hasn't been and gone. The WTS has it coming to them, and I think they know it. They will almost certainly be hurt financially and it still has the potential to be significant. These child abuse issues will nearly sink them and it's part of the reason they have been preparing for a substantial membership decline, a decline which has already started. They will scream persecution, and trim some fat at the same time.
The religion will be a slow-motion train wreck over the next 20 years IMO.

I believe they home a large group of Manatees in a giant tank, along with balls that have words etched on them. Some balls have scriptures and the Manatees just pick up balls at random. The words and scriptures found on the balls become the article that goes to print.
This has always been the WTS method for forming the Awake!!! magazine.

Do you have / admire Charisma?

as a kid i was afraid of such charisma, as it was usually the quality i noticed elders, head masters, and parents had to exercise with unloving authority over me.. but now i think about it "charisma" doesn't need be only for people with authority.
" charisma" is something even we can have?

MacDonalds in Australia also run a charity called Ronald McDonald House. They have entire facilities built so that family's with sick children have somewhere to stay right near the hospital, It is a really great thing.

meeting with elders about WT involvement in UN
by LevelThePlayingField ini still go to the meetings because of my in wife and it came about that the elders knew of my pissed off attitude about the society getting involved in the un.
so the elders said they could help me get over that and wanted to meet with me.
now just to let you know, i have only told my wife and her mom so far about it, that's it.

I had a meeting with the elders that went much the same way.
Addressed absolutely none of my concerns, answered no questions and refused to even look at information I tried to present them. One elder turned over a paper I handed him and refused to even look at it, sighting possible apostate sources as the cause for his hysterical reaction to the a4 page.
I was warned not be critical of Gods org (I was suggesting that 607-1914 was in error), and given numerous WT articles that dealt with doubts and being critical of the Org.
The whole meeting played out exactly like many on this site said it would, the same way these visits always do. I was asked if I still believed that Jehovah is directing the org and using the slave as his channel on earth today.
I replied, "Yes, of course I do". Bold faced lie. That meeting was the nail in the coffin. They confirmed that they were all batshit crazy and I left.
