we all "know" jc's are suppose to be private....so that the uniniated, innocent, can speak freely.
i say, uninitiated, because once you spill your guts and the elders use your embarassing, heart wrenching story as a lead off at their next get together/party, for a laugh, you have been initiated into your local brothers hall of fame.. so, are those jc's, really private?.
can you really talk privately, about your love of violent video games, masterbation, oral sex, shop lifting, doing drugs, or "doing" anything or anybody, and expect total confidentiality in the watch tower society elder world?.
openmind - On the whole, the elders I served with over the more than 10 years I was one, maintained confidentiality. With a couple very shocking, irritating exceptions.
punkofnice - Yes. This was my experience. Whereas I kept my mouth shut, it was surprising which elder's wife had the 'goss'. Truly disgusting

i have only just recently found this site, in fact only recently gone online to do research of my own about jws.
before i left i had only gone on my gut instinct, not even realising i was not alone with my feelings.
the week i was appointed an elder some 11 years ago, i had had to write to a congregation many miles away from me about how unloving they were (more details below).. not long after i started to have concerns about jws, expecially as the message of 'following the bibles message' subtly changed to 'follow the fds', this did not sit well with me.

that is my dilema.
my child is wonderful, funny, smart, talented, cute, kind, and a social butterfly.
i want to see her happy.
Fortunately most of the kids in the hall my kids attend are two faced. Only tonight one of mine was telling me that the kids in the hall are nice and pleasant in front of their parents and behave completely opposite when their parents are out the picture. I encourage mine to have friends at school, who always tell it as it is, are streetwise and realists.
Friends are always tricky, kids fall out all the time. As far as teaching them TTATT I use real life issues, not doctrines. Just ask if things make sense to them, ask 'what if' questions, they are more clever than we give them credit.

my wife got me started watching this show last year.
we've downloaded the previous seasons on netflix and have found it to be really well done.
the story line, scenery,costumes,old cars and compelling characters have us hooked.
I love it, it is very well written.
im amazed how going witnessing sisters who knew me for decades would sit only in the back seat on the way to the hall...to avoid any sex at the traffic lights!!!
and chaperons 1840's style are needed because two witnesses alone for 10 minutes would go at it like animals even after all the training watchtower articles and talks being jahs clean org.

my youngest daughter is so cute, she loves singing and loves being festive.
when i put up the tree, she loved saying, "it's christmas, it's pretty...." her babysitter, a witness from my wife's hall, lives next door to a neighbor who put up decorations in the yard like i did in front of our apartment.
when we leave her house, she would run next door to look at the "christmas" as she would say, "look, the christmas.
Live your own life, not someone else's. Besides you know it's just a phase, she'll be singing something else soon.
