Losing Faith in Faith..
by Dis-Member ini came across this lecture at 3am not being able to sleep by dan baker.
it details his transition from christian fundamentalist to atheist and the various shades in-between.
he realises that every denomination of christian can open the bible and prove to you that they have the right interpretation and everyone else is wrong.

by Still Totally ADD inboth reopened mind and i are now in our early 60's and it seems our conversations lately have been on putting everything up for sale and buying a rv and travel until we can't anymore.
it has been a dream of ours for along time to see all the site's in the u.s. and canada.
we feel we could make money as we go by selling and teaching using herbs and gardening.

.. .. an austrian man has won the right to wear a plastic colander on his head in his driving license photo, by apparently insisting that the kitchenware was a part of his religion.. niko alm decided to wear a pasta strainer on the document after he read that headwear is only allowed on official documentation, such as driving licenses, on religious grounds.. he submitted his application to wear the pasta strainer three years ago, citing he was a pastafarian the name given to a member of the church of the flying spaghetti monster.. the us-based parody-religion made headlines last month, when guy albon, a member from adelaide, used a photo of him wearing a metal colander on his gun license photo.
officials feared the photo suggested he did not have the mental competency to hold the license.. on its website, the leaders of the religion claim to have existed in secrecy for hundreds of years and claim to have atheists, agnostics, christians, muslims and hindus among their members.. niko alm who won the right to wear a colander on his head in his driving licence niko alm who won the right to wear a colander on his head in his driving licence following the confirmation, mr alm wrote on his blog: my headwear has now been recognised by the republic of austria.. however, a police spokesperson in vienna said: the photo was not approved on religious grounds.

Some good advice already, I would say go for it but don't gamble all you have on it, always have a backup plan

I know 2 of the Elders on the Ray Franz JC
by James Jackson inwhen i read coc, i was stunned that the 2 elders (theotis french & rob dibble) were on ray franz judcial committee.
i have known these men for over 20 years having done rbc and convention work with them.
they are still elders today which means they were in their early 30's(which is unheard of for a case of this importance to have inexperienced elders to sit on) on this committee.. without revealing myself, i have never tried(but have wanted to), ask them about their on having to judge a former gb member.. then out of the blue, about a year ago, i was mentioning how hard it is trying to get younger ones to volunteer to one of these elders, and he says"this is nothing compared to to sitting on the committee that had to disfellowship ray franz".

Of course they were instructed that way, they wanted him out and would have stopped at nothing to do so. It it was a foregone conclusion that he was to be gone, then they would have been no need for anyone 'experienced' to do the JC

Advice on fading needed
by wallievase inthese 2 options are before me right now-.
1. write a letter to the elders and my family, not da myself but basically saying i have too much going on in my life and am confused, so that they will stop bothering my wife and stop asking me questions all the time.
after i write the letter continue to go to the hall less and less.... 2. appease my wife.

Why are they your only 2 options? I would opt not write anything to anyone and simply fade, mental illness would be a valid reason as what you are hearing goes against your conscience but don't tell that to any JW, just the mental illness part! I suffered with anxiety before I stopped going, I literally had panic attacks going to a meeting as it made me so angry listening to the nonsense.

Update on shunning@the store. Watchtower victorious.
by quellycatface inyep, that's right.
after all my friends and my efforts, the shunning carries on.. the 3 people who were shunning me at my local supermarket, still, are carrying on this practice.. little subtleties like avoiding eye contact, making busy as i walk past and looks out of the corner of their eyes.
you know the modus operandi.. nothing now the store can do about it.

If people choose to act like that do you really want to interact with them anyway? I don't, I'm happy enough without having to make small talk with such people
