Are you now ashamed of how gullible you were as a JW?
by biometrics innow that you realise how idiotic some of the jw beliefs are/were, do you feel ashamed of how gullible you were to believe them?.
if anything my past as an adult jw makes me understand how easily manipulated people are by the people and environment around them.
and that even intelligent people can be influenced beyond what is rational..

Just joined
by Gojira_101 inthis is my first time posting on here.
i've been inactive for 3 months now and my husband and i are going the fading way.
i was born and raised in this religion and now after almost 30 years, they have taken most everything from me.

Welcome here, and to your journey in becoming the real you, it's an exciting time. Don't let others who are mind controlled upset you, your aunt thinks she is doing the right thing, even though clearly she is not.

My friend's conversation with a JW about me! Lol!
by TimothyT inone of my old friends from work, who i used to have lots of spiritual conversations with, messaged me on facebook before and told me how he had a call from the jws this morning.
here is our conversation from facebook when he told me what happened:.
my friend: any way funny thing today, some jehovos came to me door and we were having a chat and i told them i didnt agree with their religion saying i was biased because i had a friend who used to be one and was kicked out for being gay and how could they preach like love etc and be so discriminative and then said they would know you mentioned your name and he did know you, and has even been on holiday with you in the past.

That's great - they just don't get it that you could be happier. 2 JWs came to my house recently to see my wife (she's still in) but she wasn't around. They kept remarking on how well I looked. I think they thought I would have been in sackcloth and ashes.

Im a non JW and i'm interested in a JW
by littlebigtown123 ini'm interested in this girl and shes a jw.
i went to the meetings and i was bored out of my mind.
i can see how the religion is very appealing to people.

My advice is to run also, but I don't think you want to hear it. If you do proceed go very carefully, you are falling in love with someone who does not really know themselves and is conditioned to think and react in certain ways, including putting JWs ahead of you

A picture so outrageous, it deserves its own thread...
by cedars ini mean no disrespect to sd-7 or his fine thread on which this picture has already featured, but i think it is just so ridiculous that it deserves a thread all of its own.. lurkers and apologists, this is how your precious organization views itself.... behold the madness.... .

My Husband Said "Victims Of Pedophiles Come Forward Soon, Not Fifteen Or Thirty Years Later!" Right?
by AuntConnie inmy husband had gotten into a fight with a couple of victims of different pedophiles, he said in all his years of elderhood, "men and women who were sexually assualted came forward when they were old enough, they did not wait for decades to report they were abused.
you must have some kind of false memory or you are just trying to bring shame to the congregations.
" what is the truth of this?.

After being badly upset by the behaviour of a couple of witnesses I spoke to an elder's wife and she replied "the fact they are Jehovah's Witnesses means Jehovah sees something worth saving in them so we should too".
This makes my blood boil! So a pedo is worth saving, but a victim/survivor who's life/head is screwed up by them is not and should be shunned?
And to answer the original question, it can take years and years for someone to come forward, it could be because they were too frightened, too ashamed, not mentally ready to face it, any number of reasons. The authorities view it the same whether the survivor suffered yesterday or years ago.

I just felt compelled to, in the presence of so many like minded people. I wasn't nervous or worried, in fact I was concerned as I couldn't log in for 24 hours after signing up and thought I wasn't going to be 'accepted'.

Greetings from a new member
by EdenOne ingreetings everyone.. just wanted to say hello to everyone, being a new member from western europe.. some may know me from another forum (eden, from e-jehovas-witnesses.com), but most don't, so this is my little intro.. male, in my early 40's.
still an active member in good standing of a jehovah's witnesses congregation in my country, and honestly not planning to change that status, despite my unorthodox beliefs.
sometime i will elaborate the reason why i don't feel i must leave.

Hi Eden, I'm amazed at how you can be closely associated with an organisation you say you have no intention of furthering the top executives interests. I realise there are many sincere ones blindly following, but they are following the GB. The mental anguish for me was too great to bear once the penny fully dropped for me.
