in the last 4 months my eyes have been opened to ttatt, my biggest issue is that the elders have been grooming me to appoint me as an elder.

There is no 3 year rule, as to how to say no without being 'detected', just say no thank you as I feel I can serve the congregation better in my current capacity and feel being an elder would put on too much stress on me and my family at this time.

UK Family Law re child custody where one parent is a JW and the other is not
by Frazzled UBM infor those who are interested i came across this case relating to a dispute about how much exposure a jw parent could give her child to the jw'religion'.
the case is interested because it shows how much weight the courts put on freedom of religion and the right for a parent to expose the child to their religion provided the religion is 'socially acceptable' while also being mindful of the impact on the child's welfare.
i think the judgement is quite naive in its assessment of the potential harm and spends to much time concentrating on blood issues and birthdays and christams and not enough on the wbts techniques for recruiting and manipulating members while they are vulnerable children.

In that paragraph the point I would highlight is the same point about the child's welfare, not the social aspect but the techniques that are used by the mother's religion to control their thoughts, behaviour and emotions. These are detrimental to the child's welfare, and are what I would highlight.
I would be very interested in how this goes as I suspect I will be in the same position soon.

If you mean Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society then no I cannot see them ever doing this, they prefer smoke and mirrors.

Are Jehovah's Witnesses Scottish?
by RottenRiley inmy experience with jws, often they were very frugal and cheap, willing to use my car in field circus every weekend.
why are jehovah's witnesses so dense and obtuse when it comes to sharing costs and contributing?
has the topic of district convention 'tight-ass cheap-skating' jehovah's witnesses been talked about?

I'll buy you all a drink if ever you come to Scotland, I am Scottish but not a JW. Just imagine how tight Scottish JWs are!

Sheparding Call
by DS211 inat the meeting last night i was approached by an elder and he asked me what my schedule was like for the next week or so.
i told him im not sure ill have to tet back with him and i asked why and he said kindly but in an odd sort of way "for a visit".
my wife and i have not gone out in field service and have been missing meeting left and right mostly due to sickness and family.

Language and terms used are important to a cult. If you stop using it or questioning it alarm bells will ring with them.

Why do so many exJWs promote Watchtower lies and cover-ups?
by Fernando inseveral footnotes in the nwt correctly define apostasy as "unfaithfulness".. that is spiritual unfaithfulness/adultery/fornication/prostitution/harlotry.. in scripture the jews were called (spiritual) prostitutes (37 times in ezekiel chapters 16 and 23).. they claimed a relationship with the god of abraham.. yet they lusted after other gods.. and they had frequent wanton spiritual intercourse with these gods.. to cover-up their own lewd apostasy the watctower lyingly redefines the word to mean a dissenter (against the watchtower).. anyone who dissents is labelled an apostate.. ray franz discovered their apostasy.. he dissented.. he exposed their spiritual harlotry in detail (isocf and coc).. they lyingly labelled him an apostate.. and many if not most exjws say this is all fine.. even worse, many exjws proudly wear the label.. to show their proud support of watchtower lies and cover-ups.. how sad....

Not everyone promoting the WTBS lies would label themselves apostates. More like 'showing the bleedin obvious'. Do you remember a craze called Magic Eye. It was a sheet of paper with a pattern on it and if you looked hard enough you'd see a picture in it. This is why ones you call apostates promote the lies and cover ups, in the hope that other finally see the picture.
