Greetings! From an Existent JW!
by Ethos ini'd like extend a greeting to all members of jwn.
i've been a lurking by-stander of this forum for approximately 6 months.
i think this forum's best moments can be attributed to the involvement of actual jw's in doctrinaire discussions and to heated (though not always dialectic) debates.

*** Man was created to be earthly, right? ****
Wrong.
Romans 5:14 ...Adam, who was a pattern of the one to come.
1 Corinthians 15:49....And just as we borne the likeness of the earthly man, so shall we bear the likeness of the man from heaven.
Romans 8:29 ......predestined us to conform to the likeness of his son.
Ephesians 1: 4 For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love 5 he [b] predestined us for adoption to sonship [c]

Timeline for the seventy years?
by DarkFireWolf ini tried to make a little timeline for when the seventy years began and ended that correlates with history..i might take this to the elders to show them that 609-539 is completely possible for the 70 years while 607 dosen't go with history.i've been told by others in the congregation that we choose 607 because 537-70=607 and that jerusalem being destroyed in 586/7 would only mean 50 years of exile.this is going to be a little bit long too as i've added in the scriptures that fit in this timeline.. 609. nabopolassars 17th year.
babylonians defeat the assyrians.
and the 70 years begin with them ruling over the nations.. jeremiah 25:17-26.

Excellent piece Darkfirewolf.
I like to keep,it simple, like myself lol
The WBTS accepts Babylons fall around 539/537 BC
Jeremiah 25:11 ...... 11 This whole country will become a desolate wasteland, and these nations will serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
539/537 + 70 years= 609/607 BC.....then let them do the math, as they prove it to themselves.

Image of God - the Bible or Christ?
by tec inpeace to you!
i wanted to get some thoughts out there on this subject, because there are so many people who look to the bible as the image of god.
to the point that they do not look to christ at all, but rather they look to the law or to moses or to the ot as the image of god... over... christ.

**** So what do parasites tell us about god's awesomeness? ****
Mr Cofty, I believe you have already revealed that you do not accept the existence of God. So you already have your answer.

My country is sick
by sabastious inthis is a melancholy day for me.
over the past few years i have been studying american politics and have enjoyed learning perspectives from different ideologies.
i personally lean towards conservative values when it comes to creating legislature, however i am socially liberal.

Christians are awaiting an eternal city not of this world.
Its pretty obvious To most, over the past 4 years of abuse of the fillibuster, and one agenda to get rid of one man at the expenses of driving America off a cliff whom has this earthly America's back....It is Not the General Obstruction Party of NO !

From one noob to another, welcome.
You could start by reading Jeremiah 25:9-12....which shows the WBTS whole foundation is based on erounous eschatology.
Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the Lord , and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations...
11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.
12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the Lord , for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.
NOTICE THAT IS 70 YEARS FOR BABYLON.....
539 BC the fall ...+70 = 609 BC approx beginning.......

Christ is the ultimate revelation of God as Father.
The written word reveals Gods character, holiness and righteousness.
The creation reveals God's power and awesomeness.
To him who has "more" more is revealed, with accountability.
Obviously, "knowing" God as Father as revealed in his relationship with his eternal Begot Son IN US is the ultimate treasure in clay pots. 2 Corinthians 4:
4 Therefore, since through God’s mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart. 2 Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commend ourselves to everyone’s conscience in the sight of God. 3 And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. 4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. 5 For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus’ sake. 6 For God, who said, “Let light shine out of darkness,” [a] made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ.
7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us. 8 We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; 9 persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. 10 We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. 11 For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may also be revealed in our mortal body. 12 So then, death is at work in us, but life is at work in you.

What happened in the Christian Congregation immediately following the destruction of Jerusalem?
by itsibitsybrainbutbigenoughtosmellarat inwhat exactly happened in the christian congregation immediately following the destruction of jerusalem?
what were the central issues being dealt with at the time?
was there a crises akin to what happened to jws when they weren't all raptured in 1914?.

Satanus ...
Thanks for your reply.....After proving that the end time calculations held by the WTBS were in error, it subsequently followed that their whole foundation and authority was based on error.
After some study and prayer for God's guidence, Partial Preterism and amillenism seemed more plausible to me than the many alternative views. However, eschatology should not effect our individual salvation to lead a Gody life in Christ's resurrected power.
Thanks again friend
