while explaining the significance of consuming the booze and bread it is quite likely the speaker is going to make a passing remark about how jesus made sure that judas would not be present to partake.. of course he won't explain his reason for saying that.

This is how Satan and all authority shot themselves in the foot. The agent of Life was killed and hence the cross is the focal point in history where eternity crashes in time and ends all mortal creation, to be renewed in a resurrection of immortality for those who SURVIVE THIS PROCESS already underway 2000 years ago. On a fleshly comparison it is like when Neo is killed in the Matrix, he becomes the embodiment of the authorities/agents as he dies they die, he is resurrected ...they are history ! Checkmate on evil, they shot themselves in the foot !!!

False prophets or simply wrong expectations?

in a talk i heard recently, the brother was talking about how jws had certain expectations about the end, acknowledging 1914, 1925, surely before 1935 and 1975, then we learned that it's not in our jurisdiction to know jehovah's timetable.

then he said, some say that because we made those mistakes, some say jws are false prophets.

he said that was "simplistic thinking".

One BIG difference, the early Apostles preached Christ for salvation NOT dates, Dates were NOT mandatory for Truth or salvation. The WBTS is preaching an end time fulfillment of separating the sheep from the goats, escaping Armageddon based on dates...607, 1914, 1919. All will die who reject these dates, and all have been disfellowshipped and will die at Armageddon if the dates are not believed and preached.

Jesus didn't care about chronologies and bible knowledge--why should we?

when i read the gospels, i don't find a bunch of numbers.

i loved that jesus talked in a way that left me wide open to respond to god.

"love god with your whole heart, mind, soul and strength and your neighbor as yourself".

Lars **** I end up having to have sex with both men and women. So it is very difficult to claim "Im the true Christ" in person when everybody around me knows I have lovers and am sexually active. That's the "chasm" that has been created. So even if the WTS wanted to publicly explain the scriptures and correct the timeline and then point to me as the Christ, they can't, because no one will accept me as the Christ if I'm out there giving blow jobs to half the men in this town (well, it's not really that bad, but it involves more than one man, plus at least one woman).******

Heb. 6:4-9 reads:

For in the case of those who have once been enlightened and have tasted of the heavenly gift and have been made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come, and then have fallen away, it is impossible to renew them again to repentance, since they again crucify to themselves the Son of God, and put Him to open shame. For ground that drinks the rain which often falls upon it and brings forth vegetation useful to those for whose sake it is also tilled, receives a blessing from God; but if it yields thorns and thistles, it is worthless and close to being cursed, and it ends up being burned. stuff that has happened to me and people of other religions that i've met and read about--it makes me wonder if the caretakers of "holy writings" haven't bent us with their theology and pedantry.. i don't think jesus wanted us to make a religion.. he offered an experience of faith that was first and foremost an invitation.

the gospels--even if half diluted with error can't dispel the experiences we feel if we accept these words at face value: john 7:17-18.. i can't stay on- going to doctors today.. thanks.

stuff that has happened to me and people of other religions that i've met and read about--it makes me wonder if the caretakers of "holy writings" haven't bent us with their theology and pedantry.. i don't think jesus wanted us to make a religion.. he offered an experience of faith that was first and foremost an invitation.

the gospels--even if half diluted with error can't dispel the experiences we feel if we accept these words at face value: john 7:17-18.. i can't stay on- going to doctors today.. thanks.

Now, the historical value of the Exodus story has fascinated scholars, but also lay people, for generations. Could the Exodus really have happened? And if so, when? And does it matter? And is there any evidence for this story, for example, in external sources, outside the Bible? Well, no, there isn't any direct evidence outside the Bible, but let's start at the beginning. We do have a victory hymn, a victory hymn that's inscribed on a stele — that's a slab of stone — which was erected in the year 1204 BCE. It was erected by a pharaoh, Pharaoh Merneptah. So the stele of Merneptah dates to about 1204, and in this victory hymn he's boasting of his victory over various groups in Canaan, and one of the groups he claims to have defeated is Israel. Now, this is a fabulously important inscription, because it's the earliest known reference outside the Bible to any person or entity that is mentioned in the Bible, and it suggests that a people known as Israel was indeed in the land of Canaan by the end of the thirteenth century BCE. Whether they arrived there after an exodus from Egypt is not of course indicated. The source doesn't tell us that, and in fact there's really no archeological evidence of a group, a large group, entering the land of Canaan at this time. There's a steady cultural continuum, not evidence of destruction as we would expect for a big invasion.
