So during skype today, my mom said something 'momentous' (sorry if I spelled it wrong) is supposedly happening at the district convention this summer, some huge announcement or something is what I got from it. And then she mentioned them doing away with the district overseers, I asked her if she knew why and she said she didn't know. I just said 'is it to cut down on expense or something?' She was telling me I need to get to the memorial this year, which I don't plan on. I think she truly believes something big is going to happen soon. This could be a year of great disappointment for the witnesses. I mean, how many times can they cry wolf?

2014: do you see Witnesses ramping up activity? What will the aftermath be in 2015?
by JimmyPage injw's often say they don't serve with any dates in mind.
but the fact is many of them can't fathom why the end just hasn't come yet.
since 2014 marks 100 years of invisible rule many witnesses can't help but think this has some special meaning.

Are apostates becoming more brazen
by joe134cd ini was just watching the video of bo jensen, when he walked into the bethel.
although i thought it was commendable for what he did, it got me thinking if apostates are becoming more brazen in taking wt to task.
in the short time that i have been visiting apostate sites, i do feel that this is the case.

I have been more open lately with my brother how I feel, wouldn't say anything for ages, but he pretty much feels the same way about it so we have some good discussions now. I wouldn't dare say anything negative to my parents though, not worth upsetting them over. I have no desire to get into arguments with them over it.

My brother had lunch with my mom yesterday, and she kept talking about the end of the system, how it's almost here, and trying to get him to go back to meetings. She had been out in service that morning. When he told me that I was wondering if there's anything going on at the hall for her to say that. I figured it's just the usual fear mongering to keep everyone in line. But who knows

Will the 2014 Memorial partaking YOUR last?
by prologos inpossibly yes.
many wt doctrine dissenters have privately taken the bread&wine on that night for years.
one reason is that the new covenant is not for heaven, but for forgiveness of sin, and jesus served the emblems to those with an earthly hope.

Last year was the first one I've ever missed. I don't plan on going this year, but my dad is somewhat pressuring me, saying he wishes I would go and that he doesn't ask for much. I live very far from my parents, so they would only know if I went or not by what I tell them. I don't want to lie and say I went when I didn't go, but I don't want the guilt trip either when i tell them I didn't go. Love them to bits and don't want to disappoint them, but I truly am out mentally and physically and have no desire to go. Grrr, I hate this.

Problems of Dating the Watchtower Way
by enigma1863 ini wanted to know what problems you have learned about dating in the "truth" acording to there policy.
i feel like you dont really know someone until you live with them.
also some put on a false personality until they get what they want i.e.

Both my brother and I married young to do things the 'right' way, resulting in unhappy relationships (and abusive for me) ending in divorce. Has happened twice to my brother. I think he will be steering clear of JW women now. I so wish I would of done things differently, like go to college, instead of marrying a JW headcase. Second time around I didn't give a crap what people thought, resulting in happy marriage to a non JW.
I don't know how much has changed, but when I was a teen-ager you weren't really even allowed to hold hands or sit together at the meetings until you were engaged. And the assemblies were like a meat market for JWs, groups of young people gathering in the corridor walking around, it was THE social event of the year. I hope things have loosened up a bit, but I doubt it.

Is it true FB won't put a 'dislike' button on there cause they want to keep it a positive experience for everyone? I thought I heard that a while back.
I think overall FB is a good thing, living far from family and friends, its nice to see pics and stuff. I also like to read the news and headlines on my newsfeed. Other than that, it can get pretty mundane. And I'm sick of getting game requests. I liked the old Myspace, where you could custom your page with music and stuff. That was cool.

by Bruja-del-Sol intell us a little about yourself and your family.. im a 45 year old female.
married age 18 to another jw (pos son), became the mother of two wonderful children, girl and boy (now adults), divorced and dfd when i was 33 years old and since 2008 married to my first love who used to be my classmate when i was 16 (but got kicked out of my life by my dad b/c he wasnt a jw).. were you a born in or a convert?.
my grandmother from fathers side, my parents, 2 of my 3 sisters and their husbands (one is an elder) and kids, my brother and his wife and children, and the wifes of my two uncles are all still jw (uncles both have faded, but their cult personas are still intact, unfortunately).

Enjoyed reading your experiences. I was dating a 'worldy' guy in school when I was 17, was crazy about him, but my witness friends persuaded me to break up with him cause he wasn't a witness, so I gave in. Then a few yrs later married a JW with a lot of issues, very unhappy and unstable relationship. I ended it after 9 yrs. Now I am married to my soul mate, him and my boys are really the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I enjoyed reading this Cofty, thanks for sharing.
We were in a shopping center right before the holidays and there was a billboard for a charity raising money for Africa, and my 7 yr old son asked 'why doesn't god give the kids in Africa enough food?' Me and my husband just looked at eachother like 'wow'. Even a 7 yr old is wondering the same thing.

Christmas Field Service
by NeverKnew inon another thread, i read that a few adherents may be traveling (cough-cough) to other cities and wouldn't be able to make field service on christmas day.. what is the likelihood that going out on christmas will be encouraged at the weekend services at the khs?
...or do most halls stay neutral on this?
given what i've read on this forum, i have the impression that disrespecting a day of other's celebration wouldn't be discouraged which annoys the heck out of me..
