Missing a meeting is like being the first to leave work when everyone else is still stuck there. You know they're going to be talking about you while you're not there. The only motivator for me to still attend is that I will hear about it from all sorts of people if I'm not there, wanting an explanation.

Do Witnesses really want to go to the meetings?
by BU2B indo witnesses really want to go to the meetings?
or do they just go because they feel they must to get into the new world.
or is it just peer pressure or pressure of elders?

This is the last thing I remember from a DC: "The toes don't matter!"
Haha, excellent, that was my takeaway too.
Although I mostly felt drained after an assembly, that was because I can't handle crowds for a full day, being an introvert. The same thing happened to me after a full day of field service. BUT -- a half-day of service often left me with this warm feeling inside. So those of you who aren't so overwhelmed by people as I am would probably retain or even build on this feeling over the course of the day or extended weekend of attendance.
I am pretty sure that the feeling is not the after-effect of adrenaline, nor relief that it's over, but rather a feeling of camaraderie and conscientious satisfaction knowing that we did the right thing by going. Naturally as we stop being so "into" the truth, these feelings would go away.

@bigmac: So, what you're saying is, Jehovah is a fornicator because he wasn't married to Mary.

I'm half-expecting them to suggest that the baby developing in another woman's womb might acquire aspects of her worldly personality, hence the danger.

Haha. I had to tell someone my mother's birth date recently for security verification. I said the date slowly like I was casually answering, you know, no big deal, but inside I was thinking, "Oh my God! Is that the date? What if I'm wrong? He'll think I'm a fraud or at least some kind of idiot!"

JW Wiki
by jw07 inis there an active wiki exposing tatt?.
what would be ideal is a dedicated wiki.
nothing that will alarm the average jw at a glance, but definitions which will help them see the flip-flopping of doctrine, and help to wake them up quickly.. for instance outlining the stand on blood and how the doctrine has flip flopped over the years from zero blood to more and more of it, citing dates, and quoting articles in chronological order.. or the view on higher education, and quotes, and links to scans of watchtower and awake articles from the mid 1900s to present.

Well, keep in mind that people tend to lack subtlety, especially on the Internet. I predict that you would quickly find the wording would become fairly in-your-face and bitter. A wiki would also open the door to edit warring over the phrasing used, between someone who wants something that's strongly worded, someone that wants something more thought-provoking, and someone who is a WT apologist.

Throng- A large crowd. Largely obsolete; only used in some Bibles and by the Watchtower writing department.
~~Not To Be Confused With:
Thong- Fun underwear.
~~How to tell the difference:
People do not gather publicly in thongs except on European beaches. When in doubt as to the proper word, apply the principle of "better safe than sorry" and use "throng".~~Pro tip:
Practice saying the 'r' in "throng" in private before giving a Watchtower reading in front of the congregation.

Do's and Dont's on debating JWs online
by Emery inrecently i have seen an increase number of former members trying to argue ttatt with jws on youtube, news articles, facebook and public forums.
for the most part, i do not see a lot of vicious or hostile debates when former members are trying to show ttatt, but i have seen some arguments and approaches turn out very ugly, to the point of many face palms.. i remember there were several instances that completely turned me off towards ttatt as a believer because "apostates" would be entirely reprehensible and would fit the bill of what the society termed "mentally diseased".
i cannot fault ones here who have gone on a similar rampage now that i understand how people lose everything and everyone they love.

On another note, I watch quite a few of the Videos on Youtube and many of them start off by stating something to the effect of " If you are a current Jehovahs witness you should not be watching this video, please turn it off now.
I suspect that's a clumsy attempt at reverse psychology.

Some who have never been JWs do more harm than good when talking to JWs. They do not truly understand the JW mindset, nor are they sensitive to the mind control.
I would go farther and say that many former Witnesses who've been out for a while also do not understand the JW mindset. It's actually a good thing for them, personally -- they've moved on and freed themselves from Watchtower thinking -- but then they forget what it was like to be indoctrinated and fearful when talking to someone who is still in.
It's also interesting to note that some here watched videos as part of their exploratory process. Personally, I have a distaste for watching people talk on YouTube. My listening comprehension is below average and my reading comprehension is above average, so I prefer just plain text, even page upon page of it. When I watch a video, I find myself distracted by everything -- the design of the ceiling fan behind them, their personal grooming habits... I attempt to identify their place of origin by their accent... then I come away having learned nothing. I also feel uncomfortable with close-ups of faces talking directly to me and the thought that they might be influencing my mind through charisma rather than logic.
So it's great that textual sites like JWFacts exist, for people like me who want to have something to read, selectively and at their own pace, and without the personal interaction with "apostates" that one (indirectly) gets through videos. It also is a better way to provide citations and other documentation as backup. I know that was necessary for me, as I had to confirm some material myself by looking it up in my WT Library.
